Scott 31 Newport 14

Good win for Scott, they are legit.

I still think Newport can end up with only 2-3 losses if that.

They did a great job on Johnson. He was not a factor at all. Don't get to carried away on "how many more points Scott could have scored", Newport had Scott beat on a few passes that could have been scores for the Wildcats that they just couldn't connect on and Newport gave Scott a very easy TD when Price went back to pass and the ball slipped out of his hand.
Johnson was a big Factor in this Game like I posted before it took have Scotts Team to Stop Him

Newport has a Great Team they beat there selves tonight

What game was you watching because the game I was watching he was getting triple teamed and he was still busting through the o line

He was getting doubled at times, but he wasn't busting through the line. Once again, he took a bunch of plays off, only had 1 or 2 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and only a handful of tackles overall. He played better than he did against Walton. But he certainly was not a factor in this game. Sowder had at least 50 or 60 yards rushing on the wedge play (direct snap to the fullback right up the middle), which was ran right at Johnson, with man on man blocking. He could be great. But again, he's gotta play harder, get in better condition, and stop taking plays off.

Good win for Scott that solidifies them as a 5A team to keep your eye on.

Remember, this is a junior heavy team. All skill players except the tight end, and all but one lineman return next year. And they drop to 4a.

He played almost every snap on both sides of the ball and was man-handling Scotts offensive linemen. Oh yeah, on the direct snap to the FB. he got doubled teamed everytime, but let me ask you, what stats would you expect a Nose Guard to have to be considered "Good"? Please inform me

Look he's solid. He could be great. But if he was commanding that much attention, the LB's and 5 technique would have been free. You can't triple team a nose and not get outnumbered elsewhere, unless your others players just can't play. Also, In that blocking scheme, you can't double the nose on the wedge play against an odd front. The guard chips the nose, and moves to the LB. If you double or triple the nose, the LB's are free to make the tackle, especially if they read the guard blocking down. You ask what would constitute a good game?? If he was manhandling everybody, Scott wouldn't have had over 200 yards rushing. He would have made more than a handful of tackles, and made at least a few in the backfield. He was not a factor in this game, sorry. And once again, he failed to even come off the ball a few times each series, which is what he has done since youth football. He simply takes too many plays off while on the field, not even coming hard off the snap, to really impact games.

I got to see this game tonight and I was very impressed by Scott, I honestly though Newport would win this game. Scott showed they are going to be a tough 5A team for people to beat.

They will lose to Lloyd

They will lose to Lloyd

As of now, I think the district is very close between Newport, New Cath, and Lloyd and wouldn't be comfortable with picking one over the other with any of them.

All roads run through NCC...I know that! Dont ever count out NCC. Lloyd looks great.

I just don't get it. No disrespect to Scott, as I am sure they are a good football team, but how does beating a mediocre 2A football team make you a "legit contender" or a "very good team"?

Again no disrespect to them just asking is it more they pass the eye test or what?
