When someone is suspended from a football team it is fair game.

 

Nobody ever has a problem when we are "singing the praises" on these high school athletes, however when they run afoul many want to go in "hush" mode. It's a two-way street folks.

Hey, I'm just speculating.

Folks I have talked to says 3 year starter. Was kicked off but now school is allowing him back on. I am not for or against how they handle it other than the young man get additional support to walk the straight path.

Of course, they are almost all minors.

 

We may not want to discuss ALL the details of every incident but when someone is not playing that is fair game.

I personally am not a fan of naming names...but it would seem it should be easy to find out who it is following this week based on who doesn't appear in the stats or participation result on the KHSAA website.

 

What actions led to his dismissal I firmly believe need not be discussed. The length of the suspension is fair game, but I would like to see everyone keep it strictly about the facts and not about the player's actions or moral character.

I would hate to see any kid do something to get suspended or kicked off a team, any kid, any team. Notice how I said "hate to see a kid do something". But if a kid does certain things it does need to be discussed and watched, to make sure the correct thing is done.

 

Question, how can one talk about "facts" and not discuss the "actions"? Are the players actions in this situation not facts? And it possibly could show moral character.

 

I have no idea what happened, but I do hope it's not a big deal (if someone wants to pm me I could get a better handle IMO if it was or was not). But with some other headlines of players getting suspended for very serious offenses and people trying to cover them up over the past few years, it's good that a school knows that people are watching and will find out all the facts, so they best take the appropriate actions.

My understanding is that there are some "irregularities" to how this issue came to light and discrepancies on what actually happened.

 

Bottom line. A kid isn't going to get found guilty or exonerated by anyone on this website so in the interest of innocent until proven guilty there is not much left to discuss. I wouldn't want to be the one to out a juveniles name on this site considering any legal matter involving a juvenile is considered closed record and legally confidential in any other media source.

We don't need to know what he did to earn a suspension. This is about HS Sports...not the People's Court. For the sake of what this board needs to know it is simply that a player will not be playing for X number of games or X Player is no longer with the team.

 

The only exception is if the criminal activity (if it even was that) happened during the game itself... but if his actions were not involving football far be it for any of us to need to know.

Several juvenile matters come to light for various reasons.

 

I will say, we may be on our own with this thread but you are the one that is strongly suggesting to everyone this is a criminal matter. So you are in this thread with us... Trust me, if we hear from any legal powers that be one of their first questions is going to be "who is truecardinalfan?" Of course I am going to tell them in no uncertain terms we are NOT giving out that information to anyone.

 

Violation of team rules and length of suspension does just fine and if someone is suspended from the football team it is public record because that suspension happens in public.

Actually, yes, we, the public do need to know the seriousness of the offense. Not that it's the same thing, but does the name Steubenville ring a bell? Too many schools try to cover things up.

 

You say that we should only be concerned if it was a criminal act while participating in football? So if it was a criminal act outside of football it's "hands off"? Again, Stuebenville, not concerning football, did the public have the right to know or not?

 

It's it's drinking while NOT driving, or weed off of school property while not driving, and there was no concern for public safety of whatever, then I don't really care, if it was something else, then it MIGHT be of a concern, and we have the right to know.

 

Having said all of that, I hope it's not serious, as we have seen too many kids mess up their lives at a very early age and never get out of that rut.

Someone else already posted he had a lawyer...now thats the suggestion that it was criminal...
