September 20, 201411 yr Far to often you pop off your mouth without having a clue what your talking about and this statement is example of that. The school attempted to discipline the kid but were forced to abandon that avenue or face a legal battle they knew they could not win. In this case, if anything, the school was over zealous in their actions. Oh really? What is this "far too often"? Mayfield uses those kids that are great athletes and everyone in the area knows it. Focus on winning, and less about making the, better people. For every Trey Barclay Mayfield produces, there's 10 Terrell Starks. Enough talent to field and an All SEC team over the years and yet just a handful stay out of trouble and even fewer fulfill their true athletic potential.
September 20, 201411 yr This has always been why I have not always been impressed with the Mayfield program. Preparing the kids after leaving the program to be contributing members of society has not been a top priority. I think it's a stretch asking a football program to step in where parents fail. Those kids you named, I'd like to just examine their living situation. I think there's your answer with regard to preparing kids for contribution to society.

September 20, 201411 yr That's the elephant in the room. But at some point, the coach has to say, do bad, don't play The elephant in this statement is that the kid didn't do anything bad to be punished over. I think you should maybe stop at the store sometime and pick up a case of haterade. It would be good for your inner soul!
September 21, 201411 yr The elephant in this statement is that the kid didn't do anything bad to be punished over. I think you should maybe stop at the store sometime and pick up a case of haterade. It would be good for your inner soul! :lol2: Most grown ups don't hang their own self worth on a bunch of high school kids who are 20-30 years younger than the has beens who come on here beating their chest because of the kids accomplishments. You and a lot of others over there would do them more good long term to instill discipline on the kids who don't have a great home life. Then maybe they could reach their true potential. Use em' up, win some titles, wash your hands of them till their off spring come around 15 years later. Go Big Red.
September 21, 201411 yr Well give us names and examples Most excel a few have not but the program here has been a source of pride for kids and kept them out of trouble rather than in trouble far more often than not. I am proud of what this program did for me in life lessons and what it has taught so many kids that otherwise would have headed down a much darker road. Could you throw a football a quarter mile when you were in school?
September 21, 201411 yr Is it bad I lived in Kentucky for 27 years and I have no clue where Mayfield is?
September 21, 201411 yr Is it bad I lived in Kentucky for 27 years and I have no clue where Mayfield is? Just ask rocket where it is, he's lost several games there before!

Beat that chest riding the coat tails of kids. On a serious note, are you one of those old guys I always see wearing their old jerseys at the Mayfield games?
