Campbell next week? That will give us a good feel for both teams.

 

Next week's game will be interesting to keep up with. As of now I don't know how anyone could go one way or the other on SK, Dixie or Campbell Co in 6A. Cooper has been a bit of a surprise in my opinion.

I don't know about top 10 in the state, but I think everyone's eyes are wide open on Cooper now. It isn't just that they are winning the games, it is how impressively they are winning.

I said "TBD" because Cooper struggled offensively against Ryle, smoked a bad NCC D, and smoked a really bad Boone D.

So who exactly do we need to beat? Great game played by Cooper. Prickett was putting the ball right where he needed to. What's up with Boone's negative attitude towards the end? Uncalled for and 87 didn't even exchange fives with Cooper. Torrey looked really strong and the WRs were all over the place, catching tough passes. And that Defense, looking really strong

Cooper graduated the vast majority on last years team. This year's Cooper team starts mostly juniors and a few sophomores with a spattering of a few seniors. I don't know the exact numbers of each class though. Quite honestly, I fully expected this years team would be their rebuilding year. Needless to say through their first three games I am more than pleasantly surprised. But like others on the board the next challenge is Campbell Co. Win or lose next week, Cooper has already surpassed many folks on the board's expectations.

I doubt there will be any. In the updates thread you could even see the Boone people saying they weren't playing well and Cooper was just overall better.

Cooper is an intriguing team. They're still in the TBD stage for me.

Although it should be recognized that Cooper has played Ryle, NCC, and Boone to date. Three programs that are often recognized as traditional powers in the area. Cooper winning in the fashion they have tells me either they are pretty darn good, or the three opponents mentioned are further down than anyone would have thought.

Clyde, I believe they were just outside the top 10 last week. Like 11 or 12.

Big loss for the Jags last night. Junior Cole Hicks, who had a pick in every game, broke his arm - again. Missed all of last season with the same injury, same arm. They were already down Aiden Delph and Elliot Smith on the line. Heal, boys, HEAL!!

 

On the up side for Borchers, a frequent criticism had been that he didn't sub in the next man often enough when games were decided one way or the other. The past two games he had wholesale substitutions on both sides of the ball for most of the 4th quarter. Cordell-Armstrong's back-up - Jaden Jackson - is a really nice RB. Want to see more of him!

I will be the first to admit the first 3 teams may not have been as good as some thought before the season.

 

Next week cooper has Campbell who as a 6A team and their tradition the last few years should beat Cooper. If they do it won't change my thought about Cooper at all. I think Cooper is #2 seed in districts behind So Oldham.

 

Now if Cooper wins next week I will have a different view of this team and believe they could win district.

I was on the fence last night about which game to go to. The SK, Conner or the Boone, Cooper game. Since SK was closer...... But glad to see Cooper pull this one out.... The defense has shut teams down and their O line gives the QB what he needs..... Time

A few things that stood out to me last night:

 

I was very surprised at how slow Boone County is.

 

Coopers o-line is about as small as I have seen for a 5a school but had no problem blocking the much bigger Boone defense.

 

Boone's QB really struggled. Struggled to complete simple passes just out of the backfield and seemed to throw the ball as far as he could downfield and hoped for the best.

 

Cooper has a really nice QB. Very poised and accurate. Makes smart decisions.

 

Cooper is very very well coached and the play calling was excellent.

 

Although Cooper has played 3 bad teams so far this year, they are a good team. I don't think they'll be any worse than 2nd in the district. It's going to be another long season for BC. Will they win another game this year?

I thought the issues w/BC's QB were 90-95% on the center. Snap after snap at the knees or below.....hard to get going when you're scooping the ball up at your ankles to start a play. Lamb was athletic enough but I think the Jag D was better as a unit than he was as an individual, if you know what I mean.

#87 is a GREAT kid. He did exchange handshakes with the players. Perhaps the opposing coaches should not use profanity at the opposing team players and act like adults. It's completely unacceptable.

No Cooper coach used any profanity at any of the opposing players. I know the exact play you are speaking of and was on the endzone end of the sideline closest to where the ball was. You could possibly have it backwards though, where numerous "Opposing Players" were yelling profanities right in front of the Cooper sideline.
