My sons were right there and there was no cussing by a Cooper coach. One Rebel was invited to check out the scoreboard after he said this ain't powder puff football and one coach did say 'Keep talking, kid' to a mouthy opponent.

Cooper is winning the games they should, which is good. Lets see what happens this week. A win puts Cooper on everybody's map for sure, a close loss, probably does much of the same. A Campbell Co decisive victory, will make many question Cooper.

No Cooper coach used any profanity at any of the opposing players. I know the exact play you are speaking of and was on the endzone end of the sideline closest to where the ball was. You could possibly have it backwards though, where numerous "Opposing Players" were yelling profanities right in front of the Cooper sideline.

 

There were others standing there that heard otherwise. There is always going to be two sides in a story.

 

To call out a specific player that is an excellent representative of his school in groups such as The National Society etc. is just wrong. It's football and I'm sure there is a lot of trash talking on the field by players, but it should not happen by coaches toward players.

 

Cooper played the better game and deserved to win. No disputing that.

Well there's tackling and then there's body slamming because you are upset. I understand emotions sometimes get the best of you but what he did was wrong and he should have left it at that. Not taunt the sideline, towards the end of the line he did move away and missed quite a few players. Not the first time I've seen that attitude with BC kids. And Coach Borchers did let all of his players know to not say anything negative and be good sports, there was also no profanity coming from any coach.

There are two coaches on staff that I have personally seen it out of in a few games over the past few years. Not Borchers. And I am not naming them, but I have seen it personally.

I was also standing on the cooper sideline when #15 body slammed Torey, pretty much right in front of where I was standing. He didn't just body slam him. He did it and intentionally came down on top of him hard. It was uncalled for. I too understand the frustration that Boone was probably experiencing. After the flag was thrown #15 kept his unsportsmanship conduct up by mouthing off at the Cooper sideline. After a number of comments which I did not hear what was specifically said by him Coach Borchers had enough and the only thing he said was "Keep talking 15. As the final seconds ticked off the clock Coach Borchers gathered his players and let them know in no uncertain terms he would not tolerate anything but good sportsmanship from them and to shake hands and to be good sports in their win. At no point did any of the coaching staff during this altercation use profane language.

IF any of this were true, the 3 referees standing RIGHT THERE should all be removed from their jobs effective today. It's just a 16/17 year old letting his emotions get the best of him then trying to justify that.

Although Cooper has played 3 bad teams so far this year, they are a good team. I don't think they'll be any worse than 2nd in the district. It's going to be another long season for BC. Will they win another game this year?

 

Cooper has played three bad teams? Those three teams would whip your Eagles up and down the field. Until you stop playing bad teams like Aiken, I am certain you should not pass judgement against another teams schedule.

I made it out to my first non varsity football game at Cooper today and must say that I was impressed by the, I must assume, student announcer. He was spot on on all of his calls and was very professional. Maybe they should look at getting him to do the Friday night games. Way better than the guy they have at the Varsity games.

I was honestly surprised they didn't throw a dead ball flag on #15 for unsportsman like conduct.

If I'm not mistaken, he's the one leading the chants from the band to the student section but it's hard to be sure from where I sit, and yes, he does a great job at the mike. Music a tad loud for my old fuddy-duddy ears, but the kids like his selections.

I would agree that the music is a little loud but it's way better that what they play on Friday nights. It's like the guy doing the music on Fridays thinks he is a DJ and tries to do too much.

I have been going to high school games in various sports in Northern Kentucky for 39 years. I have observed this behavior by coaches & players and have seen no reaction by officials on multiple occasions, or they might be in such concentration that it goes unnoticed. I have seen two players thrown out of a game in different sports & it was deserved. But more often than not, I have seen no penalty assessed.

 

You will have your view point & I will have mine, that isn't going to change, and since I have seen this before at other games by these two men, I'm not changing my opinion. Since you have observed exemplary behavior you won't change yours.

 

The positive for the team at Cooper is that they are off to a winning start with a big test this week.

Congrats to Cooper for a very well=played game. It didn't take long to see things were going south for Boone (I am a Boone fan). Cooper's D was excellent and Cordell Stewart was fast and elusive. Boone's twos did fairly well. I wish Cooper well in the rest of the season. Sad for me that Boone's win streak was stopped at one-in-a-row.
