One of the most exciting games I've ever watched at Putnam.

Wow what a game. I figured it would be a close high scoring game, it was everything I expected and more. Hats off to the Rams for not giving up when Ashland went on a that run. I'll post some thoughts and observations later tonight or tomorrow, I need to wind down a little first.

I watched it online and with every score of Raceland, you saw me fist pumping and jumping. Rams have another good team this year and I'm proud of them. I coached them this summer and they have improved so much since then. It isn't even the same team than they were two months ago. Great game for the Rams but this week is an even bigger challenge. To play a more inferior team than that of an Ashland team. Can you respond to an inferior team and still play your best game? This week is more important than this past week.

I am pretty sure that I heard that he had around 180 yds.. I think that he only had something like 35-40 in the 1st half and broke runs of around 55-60 and 70 in the 2nd half. Raceland's defense did an excellent job in not letting him loose on the corner in the first. Long also had some big runs / yardage....I am not sure but think that he was well over 100.

Ashland will win a lot of games this season bc of their running game / backs.

:thumb: it took every ounce that Ashland had in them to beat Raceland. My opinion at least is that the Tomcats were greatly out coached in this one, jmo.

 

I agree... I didn't think Ashland used their athletes very well in the first half. When they started running at raceland is when they started having success. Racelands d had too mush team speed sideline to sideline.

That was one heck of a moral victory. The game was over midway through the 3rd quarter when Ashland went up by 15. I thought the biggest play was the dumb decision by Raceland to fake the PAT when they went up 20-7.

I don't think that was an intentional fake, the snap looked to be a bit high, maybe I'm wrong, but that's the way it looked from my vantage point.

Young had a heck of a game IMO. Many people said he made bad choices, but he played great in my opinion. Definitely on the defensive side.

I agree...first half was a mess and our athletes were not used appropriately. The Rams are a special team with special athletes. It was a great game. Wishing both teams luck this season!

No way was that an intentional 2 PT conversion, high snap and 2 defensive players were there to block it. If Caldwell didn't do what he done, and puts the ball down for Messer to kick, it is blocked and our best athlete maybe best in Eastern Ky could have been on the sideline with leg injury due to being ran into by attempted blocker. Great job Nick Caldwell, very heads up move!!!!
