Is it worth it?

I've been a member for over 20 years. I see it as an insurance policy. I like having it.

We usually travel during Spring Break, Summer, and Fall Break.

Plus we take several trips during the year to St. Louis.

We currently have Good Sam's because we have a motor home(they cover our cars too) but we had AAA before and were pleased. It's very cheap protection for the family. Great piece of mind if you have kids.

Yes it's worth it, it's only like $20 extra a year for a family plan which covers everyone in your home.

 

Paying not to use it is a lot better than being stranded on side of the road and having to pay a large amount of money to call a tow truck if you don't have it.

I have it and agree finally with sports guy, well worth it and you also have shopping discounts and stuff. Well worth the price.

I agree, it is definitely worth it. I have used the towing. If you do any traveling at all, you get discounts at hotels, free maps and tour books if you go to a AAA office. You also can get ticket discounts. AAA is one of the best deals out there IMO.

I have had it for years and have needed to use it several times. It has always been very convenient; however, I just switched auto insurance companies (to Safeco) and they have a roadside assistance program...so I'm not sure if I'll continue with AAA or not.

 

On a side note, you'd be amazed at how many businesses will offer 10 - 20% discounts if you're a AAA member.

I have AAA for the family and it has come in handy quite a few times, not to mention the AAA discounts we've enjoyed on our travels. And the folks that have been sent out to assist us have all been very nice.

2 college kids = AAA

I have had it for 2 years. Only used it once. But still worth it.

I do have a meeting with my insurance guy coming up. I noticed Travelers offers a free roadside for their insured. Going to see if it is the same and probably get rid of AAA.

Seldom do I use the Hotel discounts. You can ususally find a similar rate.

Since 1987....I use mostly to jump a dead battery or fix a flat tire....especially nice to have in the winter. I think it's worth it.

I don't have it but know a couple people that do have it and it has saved them in the past. When their battery died AAA came right out with a free replacement. Saved one of them when they were on vacation when it died, saved another when their daughter was at college and her battery died. She definitely didn't have the money for a new battery.

There are cheaper alternatives if you just want the 24 hour emergency roadside assistance. I use Driver's Elite.

About 10 years ago or so I had them for about 3-4 years, come to find out that their service coverage area did not cover the area I lived in or drove in the most. Had a flat one day on the road, called them, they told me I was outside of their service area which was inside the 275 loop only. Dropped them the next day, never been back.

I've thought about joining AAA many times over the years. But my insurance company provides roadside assistance for a dirt cheap price. I can usually find discounts and other benefits that AAA provides form other sources.
