I don't have it but know a couple people that do have it and it has saved them in the past. When their battery died AAA came right out with a free replacement. Saved one of them when they were on vacation when it died, saved another when their daughter was at college and her battery died. She definitely didn't have the money for a new battery.

 

AAA will jump the battery two times (I think) in a 12 month period, but won't replace the battery for free. It is about $129 for a new battery (I think). I had to use AAA several times this winter when I was parking my vehicle outside in the bitter cold. The 3rd time AAA came, they were going to charge me if I didn't buy the replacement battery.

The gold membership is 4 calls per member per year (each family member is separate).

I decided to cut down on my AAA calls per year and went to Walmart and bought a portable jumper for about $40. Great investment!

Don't need it. I get free roadside service with my cell phone carrier.

For me it's well worth the money. With 4 children the peace of mind is worth the cost. Daughter broker down on the Ky/Tn state line. AAA towed the call back to Bowling Green at $0 cost to me. Shop could not fix it and had it towed back to Danville (first 100 miles Free) I had to pay $25 and had my shop fix the car.

 

Other daughter's battery went bad. AAA sent someone to the car and replaced the batter for the coast of the battery.

 

Son was with a friend and their car broke down in London, Ky. AAA towed his friend's car back to Danville for $0.

 

Well worth the price!!

It can be worth it, however make sure you aren't paying twice for the same benefits...ie. AAA and your auto insurance for things like towing, etc.

Have been a member for years. Well worth the peace of mind especially for jumps, tows and flat tires. You also receive discounts on hotels and rental cars and can print a trip tick on line. We upgraded to gold several years ago.

I am. Kentuckian living in Texas, had a blow out in Austin and no garages, etc. around. For me, it's good and when I go to a different city for whatever reason, I usually find that I get a decent rate on hotel rooms if I ask for a AAA discount (usually better than what's being offered online, etc.). For me, as someone who doesn't have any family or a ton of contacts in the area, the peace of mind and ability to call is worth it. That said, I think I have a bit of a unique situation in how it functions for me too.
