This Video Is Why the People In Ferguson Don't Care What the Police Report Says

Featured Replies

It's in there somewhere. I can't find another one. Chief is talking to reporters and demonstrates.

Either way, the police report doesn't say he had it above his head.

The residents didn't see the police report.

They saw the police chief demonstrating a stabbing motion that never occurred.

You see the issue, right?

Did this even happen in Ferguson?

Look up the 21 foot rule. An average person can travel 21 feet in around 1.5 seconds. He appeared to be less than 10 feet away from police, approaching them, with a knife. What else would you expect them to do???

Didn't Raylan already disprove this theory on Justified last season?

Huh?

No, it did not happen in Ferguson. It did not involve Ferguson. It is an attempt to equate apples and oranges.

Under 4 miles away from the location Brown was shot. Apples and, well, apples...

It's not even the same police department. The St. Louis metro area includes many police departments. The Ferguson PD is not responsible for anything that happens in another jurisdiction, even though it sounds like the other shooting was clearly justified. Thugs who attack police officers doing their jobs will attack convenient store owners and other private citizens without provocation.

I'm sure there's zero chance the now deceased did his best recreation of the Brown situation to show how fast someone can get light up with a clip or two.

Then the chief fabricated his account with convistion.

I just can't understand why the black community feels the way they do. Makes no sense...

Sure. It makes no sense that a white officer who it now appears was beaten severely would have shot and killed a the 6'4", 290 lb. thug who had just broken bones in his eye socket and robbed a convenient store a few minutes earlier.

I just don't understand why the officer felt like his life was in danger. So, yeah, I guess that it makes perfect sense for black people not to trust that the police in Ferguson to not just gun down innocent people minding their own business in cold blood.

Come at an Officer with a knife, having been told numerous times to drop the knife and then you are shot.

Yeah, I can't understand that either. (Note sarcasm)

That is the issue I have. I saw the press conference when it happened and the chief definitely demonstrated in stabbing motion which never took place.

The only thing I could tell from the video was the guy going toward the officers and without hesitation started shooting.

I have defended police beyond no end on these boards in many cases, this one I'd like to know a couple things first.

Do the cops have tasers? If they do they didn't even use that as an option, and why so fast on the trigger? I don't know the answers to those questions, but the video was totally different to me than the news conference immediately following the shooting.

You both are missing the point.

So yeah, the cycle will continue.

No, we are not missing the point. Two different victims, two different shooters, and two different police departments. Neither case can be used to justify or condemn what happened in the other. If the point is that the people who are trying to link the two cases to justify the looting, rioting, and rush to judgment by Gov. Nixon, President Obama, Eric Holder, or that the protesters in Ferguson are motivated by racial prejudice, then consider me convinced - but it seems like an effort to excuse the ongoing effort to deny Wilson justice.

40 FBI agents dispatched to investigate a shooting where ample evidence seems to exist to establish exactly what happened? Really, what rational human being could possibly believe that what is going on in Ferguson is a reasonable attempt to see that justice is done?

You both are missing the point.

So yeah, the cycle will continue.

Nope. Didn't miss the point at all. I look at it from the standpoint of what would a reasonable person have done in the same situation.

The video is self proving. As to the press conference, people misspeak all the time. I have as I'm sure you have. The police report is the official document.

Maybe the cycle continues because some are always looking for problems where none exist.
