This Video Is Why the People In Ferguson Don't Care What the Police Report Says

Someone is trying to make controversy where there is none. There is little doubt in my mind this is justified.

The police arrived and the man had his hands in his pockets. He removed them and had a knife in his hands. They told him to drop the knife. He walked towards them yelling "Kill me" or "shoot me". They told him to drop the knife again and he continued to walk towards them.

Look up the 21 foot rule. An average person can travel 21 feet in around 1.5 seconds. He appeared to be less than 10 feet away from police, approaching them, with a knife. What else would you expect them to do???

Roger Murtaugh: See how easy that was? Boom, still alive. Now we question him. You know why we question him? Because I got him in the leg. I didn't shoot him full of holes

You are missing the point. Police report said he was within 3 to 4 feet with the knife raised above his head. Neither were true. That's the point. If you think the police in Ferguson are lying you now have an example of police lying/misremembering.

How do you know how close he was based on that video?

And the article you posted mentions nothing about the knife being over his head. It says he has it in an overhand grip...

I watched this on my cell phone and it was too small to really make out if the guy was charging them or not.

From the small video on my phone it doesn't look good. I will see tomorrow in a computer if you can see any better.

Did you not see the chief's statement? He simulated the victim having the knife up with the overhand grip and simulated him bringing the knife down in a stabbing motion. His hands were down at his side at the time of the shooting.

To be clear, I'm not saying the officers did anything wrong. I'm saying their false statement, regardless of intentional or unintentional, gives those in Ferguson a reason to not automatically believe the police officer's account of the Brown shooting. You have a bunch that is already skeptical. Now they see supporting evidence.

I can't seem to find anything other than the Chief's tweets which never mentioned him having it over his head.

I thought the police report was released earlier today, but I can't find it either anymore.

I do understand your point now. :thumb:

That particular video isn't a good look but it seems like it was justified legally. I believe an alderman for Ferguson has said as much.

Are there no links in post #1? They show the chief demonstrating.

Correct on both.

Are there no links in post #1? They show the chief demonstrating.

Which ones? I clicked a couple and they take me to other pages with more links. I'm tired I suppose, because I can't find it.

It's in there somewhere. I can't find another one. Chief is talking to reporters and demonstrates.
