Any local teams or players, I knew Boone, Ryle and cov cath were tough last year, but does that translate to this year????

The Freshman Ryle rushing attack this past season was incredible.

Ryle was by far the best freshman team I watched last year. Especially after the way they dismantled CCH in the final game. Not sure what's coming up the ladder this season, but they were a tremendously talented team....

Milton Wright from CAL 8th grade team will be a beast of a running back. Has won titles at every level and he is the leader. Cannot wait to see how he does at the next level whether its freshman or higher. Freaky good athlete (heard he had a 2 hand slam dunk the other week). Big, strong, fast. He is going to be fun to watch.

Watch for Brennan Gangwish at QB and Clay Cogswell at RB for Simon Kenton this year. These two have played together for 2 years and they are gonna be good.

Is there a family connection with Justin Gangwish of Holy Cross? And Cogswell of CCH for way back when?

I don't think there is a connection with the Cogswell from CCH but Brennan Gangwish is Justin's brother. Two different body types, two different positions. Brennan is extremely athletic with a strong arm. (His fastball is around 80mph at 13 years old). Both are tall.

And Cogswell is a steong, powerful back and just destroys people. Both player in the NKYFL Senior division for South Kenton. Much better football than middle school football but that is a topic for another day.

Heard a Beechwood coach left to coach the freshman at NCC. Can anyone confirm?

I wouldn't be so quick to say that they struggled. They played a very tough statewide schedule and have some very nice players on the roster, including a couple of kids that can really blossom at the QB position. You may be right that the record may not be as good next year but we will see when the games are played. Many people thought that this seasons freshman were not going to do as well but they just rolled through the freshman schedule.

True they did. In spring ball and 7 on 7 last years kids didn't look impressive, and run through that schedule they did. I was able to see the 8th grade practice a few times. As far as struggling I was referring to their record. The Union raiders 7th and 8th grade has had so much success that the bar is set pretty high. I was able to see them against "Corbins varsity", Oh I mean 8th Gr. lol. So that wasn't a fair assessment because nobody was beating Corbin's 8th Gr.
