If everyone is saying what they are saying about the Highlands coach of being out of control, he will lose more than the Highlands job. Talk about Career Suicide! His career is one of the reasons I personally think he should of passed on this job. He has way more to lose with a good Reputation than a Girls High School Soccer coach. We all know why he is coaching in the 1st place. It's why every Daddy coaches.

 

Where was it ever said that the coach was out of control? Not what I evidenced last night at the game. Pretty ballsy statement to make at the end of your post don't you think?

A couple of drive by bashings on this thread concerning Highlands. Anyone care to elaborate on their statements? I have heard nothing but positive things about the new coach until reading this thread.

He has never been out of control to date. Whatever you heard, you may want to check yourself. He did not take this coaching job for his daughters. If you go to a game you would see that. His oldest on varsity plays no more than anyone else, if anything she plays less. What cracks me up is that a couple people on this thread, including yourself, hide behind these screen names and run your mouth. Why not speak directly to him about the issues you have? I can assume why you wouldn't. He will have this team where they need to be by the end of the season. He is trying to teach a new formation to girls who are not used to playing it. If you would have seen the game versus NDA today then you could see that. The JV team hasn't lost a game yet and play that formation the way it is supposed to be played because he coached them last season and Coach Graves is running the same thing. Highlands couldn't have found a better coach to get them to where they need to be. For those Camel supporters who said we are overrated....why? What was the point in that jab anyway. Give them a break Jack! They obviously have a vested interest. Based on screen name likely a club affiliation. I am not going to get into this, however, based on my experience, a perceived conflict, is a real conflict. It is what it is. This site is built on opinions. Take it or leave it.

My opinions are that this forum shouldn't be about talking trash about a coach, a team or a player. If you don't like the way that someone coaches..fine. To question their integrity "daddy's coaching", is not needed.

Yes they did and it was a well played game by both teams. Congrats to NDA on the win. Poor heat conditions to deal with for both teams. The run by NDA #6 that lead to the winning goal was impressive. She made that same run with the ball about 2mins before that one. Nobody on Highlands stopped her on either one.

Hey Camel, this should raise your eyebrows.

These rankings will be nice but not until halfway through the season......If you read the calculation, it takes wins, home field, strength of opponents, etc.......right now it means nothing....same on the boys side simply because the sample size of each is too small.

I agree with OTB84, this will be nice in a few weeks, until then we will just have to watch it play out.

Wow....negativity reigns on Coach W.....for my money, that guy is as positive an influence for your teenage daughter as you will ever find. Family man, committed to the hard work that breeds success, looking out for the best interest of ALL of those around him. I wish he were coaching my kid today. To the haters-"why so mean, Gene"?

WOW!!! I'm amazed by this. Didn't the season just start and isn't he a brand new head coach??? I can tell you by experience, there is a huge difference going from a coach to head coach and being responsible for the entire program. There is sooooo much more than just preparing your team. It's no surprise a team would start a little slow while they are all figuring out the style and culture. I'm sure it's also a little overwhelming for the new head coach until he get a process down and supporters to assist. It's a lot of work. I know he can handle it and will be fine.

 

As for a person, he is competitive and that's good for varsity sports. Highlands parents and administration shouldn't expect any different. My daughter no longer plays soccer, but he coached her at a competitive level in her younger years. She loved him and thrived under his guidance. He is always looking for ways to be ahead of the game. That's what it takes, an advantage. He may be stern in his expectations, but he is a positive role model for any kid. IMO. This isn't rec soccer. He's teaching kids that will be out on their own in just a year or two. Life isn't fair and it's our jobs to prepare them for reality. Not to sugarcoat things and teach false expectations. I have not seen him coach at the high school level yet, but if he is on the kids, it's for their own good and it because he cares about them and wants to push them to be the best that they can. If he's pushing them, its because he knows they have it in them.
