agree with the strange jumps. NCC moved last time and didn't play a game in between. They really haven't played anyone of strength and still jumped more. Highlands has played very well yet they are below NCC, they beat E-town if I am not mistaken yet are ranked below them.

I could see the "Highlands major trainwreck" during the game against Campbell County and the reaction of the coach toward his players after the game. I'm going to predict he's gone after this season.

 

The girls team at Highlands is a trainwreck waiting to happen but what you and and another poster stated about "the reaction of the coach towards his players" and "out of control" is 100% off base! Their is a lot going on right now, but BW treats the girls well, not much yelling or screaming, and preaches everything being positive. A lot of parents, players, fans and other coaches have questioned a lot of his coaching, but this is one area I have heard NO ONE question! If he were to be gone it would not be because of the way he treats the players!

Where was it ever said that the coach was out of control? Not what I evidenced last night at the game. Pretty ballsy statement to make at the end of your post don't you think?

 

I do not see him questioning "Daddy" coaching being ballsy. He changed the rules and allowed 7th graders to try out for the first time every at HHS and guess what, he has a 7th grade daughter that made the team. He has 3 kids on the teams and another coach has a kid on the team. I do not have a problem with the older girls, but you can see were some would question their playing time. Throw in the several girls who were paying clients at his gym and the 5-6 players that he coaches on his club team and you are going to have parents question who is out on the field! Did the school not consider this before the hire? Is this all allowed under KHSAA rules? I believe all fair questions.

I think 1 or 2 were cut. That is part of the problem, way too many kids kept. 22-23 players kept on Fresh, JV, and Varsity. He talked real big about making cuts before tryouts but one of many things he says he is going to do that he does not back up.

If even 1 HS STUDENT/player was cut, that meant he had enough to field a team from HS STUDENTS and therefore he should not have kept any NON HS players (7th/8th.)

They have always kept 8th graders for the freshmen team, but he opened it up to 7th graders this year.

Not my point......if they cut ANY tuition paying HS STUDENTS, then that many 7th / 8th graders...(NON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS).... should NOT be on the team......

Is it about fielding the best team with the girls that show up to tryouts or about keeping only high schoolers that show up. For your information he would have no goalies on the freshman team if it wasn't for 7th graders. Both goalies are 7th graders. I know if I am coaching I am taking the best players that I have at tryouts. I don't care that a player is a freshman if she is not as good as a 7th or 8th grader then I am not keeping her. I am not going to sugar coat it and keep her on the team and then turn around and cut her the next year for JV. If she is not as good as the underclass man then it will eventually catch up to her unless she improves. High school sports are about wins and losses. This sight would nothing if that was the case. It doesn't matter if it's Frosh, JV, or Varsity, they all want to win.

Is it about wins and losses at the frosh and JV levels or is it about development? Most if not all coaches would tell you that play at those levels is about development. Kids in 7th and 8th grade may be great players now, but when they mature (especially girls) they may not be able to do the things at the level that they could as middle schoolers. They would have been able to find someone to play keeper for the half dozen or so frosh games that they play at the high school level without having the 7th graders there. If these middle school aged kids are so good, they would get better skill development and understanding of the game at the club level than they ever would at the high school level.

 

Is it better to have wins in August or to have a team playing on all cylinders when it really counts in the month of October? Remember some members of this team were part of a regional finalist last year, were finalist in the prestigious LexCath tourney where they also defeated NDA on penalty kicks. They were .500 during most of the regular season so based upon your analysis they were not very good because of their record, but I would argue that they were one of the last 2 teams playing in the 9th region last year.

7th and 8th graders can only play JV if there are no Juniors on the field. They have always been able to field a frosh team with 8th and 9th graders and that is with some playing JV and/or varsity.

High School sports is about HIGH SCHOOL sports.....so cutting a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT to keep a NON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT for HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS doesn't seem wrong to you? I understand the desire and drive for winning, but you have to do it with the students the school is dealt with, otherwise, the players could play for any school they want to even though they don't go to school there.......seems dumb, right?

 

Sorry for the "tuition" comment, but you get my point.....
