August 27, 201412 yr Since the NFL and the NFLPA have agreed to such consequences on positive drug tests (including marijuana and multiple offenses), there's no way I can be against the year suspension. Josh Gordon is an idiot. But smoking pot is no worse than drinking from a health as well as performance enhancing standpoint -- I don't really even understand why it's tested for at all. It even offers an alternative to taking highly addictive pain medications like percocet and vicodin for control of chronic pain, as some players have supported. I guess this discussion is for a different time and place.

August 27, 201412 yr So - the question for me is this. Without football to occupy his time, what chance do you give Mr. Gordon to stay clean for the next 365 days?
August 27, 201412 yr The NFL/Players Association have to take a hard look at the "Marijuana Issue" and find a way to make it work. There are much bigger fish to fry than a substance that one could argue helps more than it hurts NFL Players. Not to get into a long debate but alcohol is much worse on a body than pot.
August 28, 201412 yr I don't mind the appeal being upheld but the inconsistency from Roger Gooddell is crazy.
August 28, 201412 yr I don't mind the appeal being upheld but the inconsistency from Roger Gooddell is crazy. The appeal was heard by Matt Birk's office, not Goodell. I am not naive enough to think he doesn't have influence, though.

My biggest concern is him not being able to be part of the team and their guidance. Not that they can watch him around the clock, but they have a better chance of influencing him, if he wants to stay clean.

Not really saying Goodell was over the appeal, just the one year suspension in general compared to other offenses that have happened over the past year with other players that were more offensive (IMO) but punished less.

August 28, 201412 yr Still gets to me that Ray Rice got only 2 games for beating his GF/wife. Me too. I never would have predicted how hard it would be for me to draft him in fantasy football as a result. I didn't want to touch him.
August 28, 201412 yr If Le'Veon Bell & LaGarette Blount get suspended they should hook up with Gordon for a smoke out.
