August 18, 201412 yr Wonder when that hammer is gonna drop? And I also wonder if his penalty will be less in light of the outrage over the Rice penalty? I would think this would be in Gordon's favor as the NFL may have more of a PR nightmare if Gordon gets a stiff suspension in comparison to what Rice got. Anyone?
August 18, 201412 yr I thought the same thing in light of the Rice suspension. I think it's just another snafu that the commissioner did. Gordan should be suspended for the year at least but after the light suspensions for Rice the commissioners office could have screwed themselves because if they give Gordon a long suspension then howdo they defend their Rice suspension etc. and if they don't give him a long suspension then how do they defend others who have been suspended longer for same type of incidents? Goodell created a catch 22 and it's his incompetency in these matters that is at fault.
August 18, 201412 yr Author I think it will be 8 games. I tend to think the same. I wonder when it will come down? We are less than 3 wks away.
August 18, 201412 yr I tend to think the same. I wonder when it will come down? We are less than 3 wks away. If I recall correcting they said the decision had to come in a timely manner. It seems that date has since passed IMO. Didn't Bowe just get one game? I'm gonna have to check that one. Yes...
August 18, 201412 yr I'm really interested to what kind of suspension etc. the Colts owner, Irsay will get. Commisoner has said in the past he holds owners and coaches etc. to higher standards than the players. That is something that should of been handled long ago.

I don't understand why it takes so long to announce the punishment.
August 18, 201412 yr I saw at one time that people were criticizing the NFL drug testing policy. They were saying it is more strict than a lot of corporations including those that test airline pilots. I could have sworn I saw something that said that airline pilots are allowed to have more THC in their bloodstream than NFL players. :lol2: I want to say that with what Gordon tested positive with it is possible that his secondhand smoke excuse is valid. I'll see if I can find it.

August 18, 201412 yr Author I understand Gordon's stance. I doubt it's the truth, but it doesn't really matter. The policy that is in place was collectively bargained and he's subject to it because his union agreed to it. Until the new CBA is done, and drug testing policy is determined, I think he's screwed with that defense. I also think that the commish has way too much leeway with penalty, obviously, and the vegas line on the punishment should be interesting action.

August 18, 201412 yr The Commish has definitely given lighter suspensions lately as compared to when he first became commish. If he did his suspensions back then like he does now then people like Odell Thurman, and the late Chris Henry probably wouldn't have been suspended as long as the ones they got. Thurman possibly could have found himself still in the league.
August 18, 201412 yr Another thing that will determine the Gordon case is if they go by the old policy or new policy. Pretty sure I read that if he was caught a few months later he was looking at more less a slap on the wrist. However, if they go by the old substance abuse policy that was in effect when he failed his last test then he could get the hammer. Going to be interesting to see how this one plays out.
