Uh I am a NewCath guy. And would you consider 8 plus play drives as explosive? Trinity will struggle to beat teams w the deep ball. They will rely on breaking tackles in one on one situations to put up big plays until their QB gets comfortable. This is why you can't look at a score and make an informed opinion. Highlands stops Trinity on 3rd down a couple more times and the game is different. Trinity wasn't getting first down on 2nd down each time. They grinded it out and won by a large margin. Highlands also gave up a short field on unforced fumbles.

 

Offensively, a lot of dropped passes stalled drives. On top of that, T's d line clearly won their battles and the ILBs were extremely impressive. So, as a result, H couldn't run. That won't happen against anyone else w the exception of this Friday and Elder. As for TDs, they will come. Two TD pass drops and a third caught but out of bounds. Again, it will be a nightmare for 4A.

 

Listen, it pains me to give Highlands credit. However, I watch a lot of their games and what I said was about as unbiased as I could make it. H will have to run the ball better. Trinity is going to have to stretch the field better. Trinity was a better team.

Can somebody tell me how T's D-line played? With some players playing both ways did it look like they were tired by the third quarter?

 

They looked really quick. That front 7 is pretty stout. Nobody looks huge, but none of them are small. Is this their first year in a 3-4 or 50 front? I didn't see the game last year. I really liked their NT. Add the two big ILBers behind him and their ability to time their blitz and they looked very impressive against the pass. They seemed to find the ball really well against the run.

So, by this logic, the only schools worthy of praise aren't the schools who play like sized schools and win, but only those who play Division I or 6A schools and win? Really not even them, but the elite of the elite? How many teams do that?

To be honest, Highlands ran mostly an option/read and gave almost every time. Without seeing film, I couldn't tell you how they looked. I do know that there was nowhere for the back to go.

As far as Highlands schedule goes, they play a pretty nice schedule year in and year out and after all what is the ultimate goal? To win state championships, and seeing how they've been able to win 6 out of the last 7 years I would think their schedule

I don't see why not. They're moving to 5A in 2015, heck let 'em jump to 6A. I don't think they'd miss a beat, plus all the NKY 6A schools would be required to schedule them.

Soooooo, the NAIA, Div. III, and FCS champions in college football aren't "top tier" teams, right? And Trinity should be judged equally against Highlands despite the fact that virtually any student athlete that can afford to attend and get admitted can choose to play there? Similarly, the Beechwood, NewCath, Belfry, Central, etc. teams of recent pasts were not "top tier" teams despite their enrollment and other limitations compared to the >1,200 males enrolled at Trinity, right?

 

Trinity is great at what they do. They are to be admired. That said, under your "absolutist" theory, HHS is not "worthy of all the phrase." Gotcha! :ohbrother:

 

BTW -- out of the approx. 450 males 9-12 at HHS, they dress about 100 each week.

Trinity looked good tonight, then I looked at their schedule. This is definitely NOT the team that Quick and Dawkins were on. With T's schedule they might take some lumps during the regular season. T's place kicker sent kick offs 9 yards deep in the end on the fly, that was impressive.

 

Highlands had some good plays and some terrible plays. There is work to be done for sure. Highlands didn't play a big, bruising RB , if they have one. Hoge has a nice arm and generally is a good decision maker. He has good wheels but only when he could get out of bounds. I'm positive that the HHS coaches told him not to take a hit, for obvious reasons.

I wasn't at the scrimmage because you know why? No you don't so let me tell you. I wasn't at the scrimmage because I was taking my boy to college this past weekend where he is playing football and needed to get there as their 2 a days started Saturday. Sorry that your beloved Highlands Bluebirds didn't trump my own son.

 

Secondly it was an honest question, I have been a Hoge fan for awhile and if you read any of my posts going into this season you would have known that, so do me a favor and take your condescending attitude elsewhere.

 

Thirdly, I have gone to plenty of Highlands games and have rooted for them. My son's Girlfriends cousin starts on Highlands O-Line and has since he was a sophomore so you can take your elitist attitude somewhere else also.

 

Now since you don't think anyone can talk about or ask any questions about any game or scrimmage unless they actually attended that very game or scrimmage I expect you to never post or ask any questions about any game this year that you don't attend. Lets see you practice what you preach f

Wow, it is a wonder why some of you Highlands fans are given a bad name whenever someone on the outside says anything about your team, the elitist attitude really stinks with some of you. What a shame also because I have several HHS fans as friends and met some more during baseball season this past year, yet it's people like yourself that really give the fanbase overall a bad name.
