It includes all homicides--officer involved shootings are just one of the filters. Soooooooooo I guess you're talking about California cops having a problem but we're ok here in KY right?

August 14, 201412 yr There are a ton of great cops in this country and I have plenty I'm lucky enough to call friends . They don't make the decisions for tactics or arms . Leadership in the police force and politicians do. We the people need to make our voices heard. Agreed! But other officers need to make their voices heard, and the leadership, city/county/state officials and department heads need to be more open and go after these few bad apples, and not make excuses for them. Then, and only then, will the few bad cops or ignorant cops wake up and see that they can't hide anymore, that any wrong doing will be taken care of swiftly and at the fullest extent of the law.

Either you're putting words in my mouth, which I do not appreciate, or you haven't read the whole thread. There were a lot of comments asking about how often people of color are shot by police vs. whites. I posted a link that I found that gave good statistics for LA--nothing more, nothing less.

Maybe they could shift some of the money that is being given to the Mayberry Police Departments of this country for armored vehicles and machine guns to buying body cameras for all officers. That would be a good place to start. If I was an officer I would ask my department if I bought one if it would be okay to wear it. They are only about $100, can record a good amount of time, I think in testing mine recorded almost 4 hours, very easy to turn on and to record, as well as to start recording fro standby mode. It could save an officer in court as well.
August 14, 201412 yr I don't think you mean that..... Why wouldn't I? Sniper rifles pointed at peaceful protestors with their hands in the air? No fly zones? Journalists arrested for trespassing at a McDonalds where they were customers? The police chief saying that they persons that arrested them must not have known what they were doing? Those same people that he said did not know what they are doing are running around in riot gear with heavy weaponry. Why would I not want it investigated. I hope several of the people in power end up in jail.

That tells me that they help protect the officers that do things the right way from false claims.

Corruption isn't that rampant. Agreed. But I am talking about if an officer knows something he should go to his superiors, and those people need to act, and quickly.

Yes, and that can go both ways, not only does the officer know it's being recorded, so do the people they confront and they are less likely to escalate things as they know there is evidence.
