August 7, 201412 yr Weren't they called "programs"? I think I remember that. I also vividly remember that sounds when you switched from program 1 to 2 on to 3 or 4 to get to a song you like. The worst part was if your favorite song was the 4th song in the 2nd program, you had to listen to the first 3 songs to get to yours. Seems unbelievable now looking back on it. My step-dad used to play a pea-green Bread 8-track to death. "...baby I'm a want you...." That's it!!

Jensen quadaxel (sp) speakers. My car was a rusted 74 Olds Salon and the door would not open. My home 8 track player recorded.

My home 8 track player recorded. We had a Zenith Allegro Home Stereo that recorded 8Tracks as well. The night Elvis died, my mom spent half of the night recording Elvis Tributes off of the radio onto 8 Tracks. Played my LP's and 45's on one exactly like this for over 10 years.
August 7, 201412 yr First ones I bought with my own allowance was "Cruisin'" by The Village People and The Magic of ABBA. I got the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack as gifts on vinyl, cassette and 8-track. My uncle is 11 years older than me and lived with us when I was a kid, so my rock'n'roll needs were taken care of by him. I had to beg mom for the disco stuff, as my uncle absolutely hated it. First CDs I had was "Don't Be Cruel" by Bobby Brown and "Tougher Than Leather" by Run DMC.

If so, I didn't get one, but when I bought my copy from the "Lemon Starship Record Shop" in Covington (always dug that shop's name), it came with a souvenir metal key with "Foreigner - Double Vision" etched on it. I asked the shop owner what the key was all about. He said that it was related to the band's first tour where they'd toss a key to a hot girl in the front row at their concerts inviting her to come back to their hotel room after the show. I had that key in my souvenir collection for many years and now I haven't a clue where it is. It might turn up some day, or it's been lost forever. I wonder if it's worth anything, especially now that Gramm and Jones are in the Hall of Fame.
