August 21, 201412 yr American Ebola patients released - CNN.com "Today is a miraculous day," Dr. Kent Brantly said at a Thursday news conference in Atlanta with Emory University Hospital staff members. "I am thrilled to be alive, to be well and to be reunited with my family." The hospital had announced that he was being discharged Thursday. The other patient, Nancy Writebol, was released Tuesday and is choosing not to make public comments, the hospital said. Emory's staff is confident that their discharges pose "no public health threat," said Dr. Bruce Ribner, director of Emory's Infectious Disease Unit, adding that Writebol requested her discharge not be publicly announced at the time. As she walked out of her isolation room, Writebol said, "To God be the glory," Brantly said at the news conference.

August 29, 201412 yr That's what we want to hear!!! Yep. Most of the mutations have been confined to Africa from what I can gather and I don't think there's a real risk of it doing so here. For me, it's insight into why we tried treating it here in a really isolated situation though. Kind of confirms that there's a serious worry about it. Ironically enough, the mutation could have come from so many people catching it from a "healer". Kind of the same principle as everyone getting even sicker from the doctor's office or hospital than when they went in.
