August 3, 201412 yr This makes no sense especially since there is no cure for it, keep it contained in Africa. But the Obama Administration allowed this. Why?
August 3, 201412 yr The experts say because Emory University Hospital is one of the safest places in the world to treat someone with Ebola. There's virtually no chance the virus can spread from the hospital's super-secure isolation unit. That and medical workers risking their lives overseas deserve the best treatment they can get. Not my words, but I'm in agreement with it.
August 3, 201412 yr So that one of our citizens can be treated???? How can you have an issue with this?

August 3, 201412 yr Author So that one of our citizens can be treated???? How can you have an issue with this? Yes I do have an issue, one American citizen that could infect millions and even kill your family and I'm sure you will second guess your comment. One American death as oppose to millions, yes I have an issue with it.

August 3, 201412 yr Mountain Ref, unless you've come into contact with the guy's bodily fluids, there's probably not much you have to worry about. If you have come into contact with his bodily fluids though, then you should call the CDC immediately because you probably have ebola. Short of that or some very direct contact with the virus itself, you'll probably be fine. I didn't go to the Facebook School of Medicine, but that's my understanding of the virus.

One screw up and we have a pandemic in America of what we haven't seen for a long time. 90% kill rate.
August 3, 201412 yr Author Ummmm...you are very misinformed about Ebola. You are a kool-aid drinker, you just want to believe whatever and anything the government tells you. That is why America is in the shape we are in now, because of kool-aid drinkers. The bird flu we were told could only infect people in contact with the infected birds. So that's great, but then the disease started mutating and developing into different strains. Now it can be cot acted from human to human. So forgive me if I am worried about this Ebola infected patient in America potentially causing more problems.

August 3, 201412 yr Author  You're a funny, funny fellow. I may be funny but I am not misinformed. I would love to think all will be fine but there is that chance and one Citizen isn't worth that chance.
August 3, 201412 yr I may be funny but I am not misinformed. I would love to think all will be fine but there is that chance and one Citizen isn't worth that chance. Others have given us sources of their information. Would you care to share yours?
August 3, 201412 yr Yes I do have an issue, one American citizen that could infect millions and even kill your family and I'm sure you will second guess your comment. One American death as oppose to millions, yes I have an issue with it. I have a friend who works for the CDC, and according to him, Ebola is not highly contagious or easily spread. As was mentioned, it is only spread by direct contact with the infected's bodily fluids. It's not an airborne transmitted disease. The current outbreak is believed to be the biggest, and even then, only about 1300 cases have been confirmed, with about 700 deaths. Since the discovery of the disease, there are on average less than 1000 cases per year, with a 50-90% death rate. Doing the math, that means only about 40,000 cases of ebola, and even fewer deaths over the last 40 years. To say millions are at risk is stretching it, as not even close to a million have ever had the disease to begin with. The american doctors that got infected treating the disease deserve the best possible care we can get them.
