August 7, 201412 yr Author CDC issues highest level alert amid Ebola outbreak | Fox News to the CDC, level 1 is “all hands on deck.” The CDC has only been to level 1 three times in the history of the emergency operations center, which opened in 2003.
August 7, 201412 yr HAHAHAHAHAHA, Your awesome. We got to go eat one day. :thumb: No doubt. I would say it'll be my treat but I know you don't take handouts so we can just go Dutch. Don't be a sucker! This is a classic ruse! Don't you watch mob movies?!
August 7, 201412 yr Im serious, this stuff can happen. It isnt the world we are all used to living in the past 10-15 years. Things are happening faster than ever and this FEMA thing can happen by accident or plan. We have no idea what the government is doing or what they have planned.I blame anthropological global warming.
August 8, 201412 yr Author Don't be a sucker! This is a classic ruse! Don't you watch mob movies?! Your more than welcome to come to. I got a good quiet Italian place picked out, close to a cement factory and lake.
August 8, 201412 yr Your more than welcome to come to. I got a good quiet Italian place picked out, close to a cement factory and lake.In all seriousness, you, PP92 and me would be a blast. Then we'd likely get arrested. :lol2:
August 8, 201412 yr For the nay-sayers on the board.. Ebola WILL spread to the U.S. according to the chief of the CDC.... Ebola's spread to US is 'inevitable' says CDC chief
August 8, 201412 yr For the nay-sayers on the board.. Ebola WILL spread to the U.S. according to the chief of the CDC.... Ebola's spread to US is 'inevitable' says CDC chief I was just logging in to comment on this. He says the spread of ebola to the U.S. is inevitable.
August 8, 201412 yr For the nay-sayers on the board.. Ebola WILL spread to the U.S. according to the chief of the CDC.... Ebola's spread to US is 'inevitable' says CDC chief And if the spread is inevitable, some of us will feel more assured given the research that's being conducted on the virus in a quarantined unit of one of the nation's top hospitals right now that will be available to us later. I'd rather have a jump on an inevitable problem by preparing now instead of panicking about something coming when we're assuming that the something's arrival was inevitable anyway.
August 8, 201412 yr For the nay-sayers on the board.. Ebola WILL spread to the U.S. according to the chief of the CDC.... Ebola's spread to US is 'inevitable' says CDC chief But any outbreak is not likely to be large. I guess that's the somewhat silver lining if it is indeed inevitable. I can see it happening because of global airline travel, but not because we are treating the two doctors in Emory. Thanks for the info, cammando.

It's hard to argue with that logic. I agree that it is probably inevitable that ebola will spread to the U.S., but I also think that large outbreaks like Africa has experienced are unlikely here. We have an open border and are needlessly exposed to epidemics of much more contagious but less deadly diseases than ebola.

We have an open border and are needlessly exposed to epidemics of much more contagious but less deadly diseases than ebola. True. While who should bear the cost of vaccinations is definitely a valid avenue for debate, it's my understanding that through school programs, etc., that most children wind up getting vaccinations. Again, who should and who does bear the cost of that, and whether one side is paying too much or too little is certainly up for debate. It's my impression that parents who think they know more than doctors and researchers who choose not to vaccinate their children are just as much a part of the problem as the percentage of adults who are illegal and don't get their shots. While immigration poses a different type of problem and concern, we have plenty of legal citizens who make enough decisions that are questionable at best and downright bad at worst to present ourselves with enough problems. They're doing more than their part in making sure wholly preventable illnesses stay around, which is sad, because they actually have the means to do something about it, whereas I'd speculate that just as many, if not more, illegals actually want the vaccinations and would rather listen to an American doctor than they would Jenny McCarthy. I'm not trying to discount what you're saying about illegal immigration, but instead trying to highlight the fact that we have wildcards of our own that we can't deal with either and that they cause enough problems on their own. It shouldn't be surprising that American education rates are seemingly declining when people would rather listen to Jenny McCarthy than an actual Doctor (who isn't a quack or someone who fell off the deep end).
August 8, 201412 yr For the nay-sayers on the board.. Ebola WILL spread to the U.S. according to the chief of the CDC.... Ebola's spread to US is 'inevitable' says CDC chief It probably is, regardless of whether those two doctors get treated here or not. We have cases of other really dangerous, "3rd World" diseases, like Bubonic Plague, Hantavirus, Malaria, Yellow Fever, etc show up every year. But we do a good job of containing and preventing large scale outbreaks. With the way people travel, it's naive to think Ebola would never wind up here at some point in time.
August 9, 201412 yr On cue with the anti-vaccination trend, we've got this article from the Lexington Herald: Fear keeps some parents from immunizing kids, but health officials continue to tout benefits | Medicine | Kentucky.com
