Lets give a big hand to Kenny Perry. A 3-under 68 on his 54th birthday. Even though he passed the torch to JB Holmes yesterday, Perry will still be the face of Kentucky professional golf for a number of years - and deservedly so.

I am not sure how this is a 'Louisville' problem. Unlike land lines where the telephone company can run a fiber with almost unlimited capacity and then slice it off into a bank of temporary pay phones or drop a bunch of lines into a CBS trailer cell networks have to be engineered to cover a certain geography with towers at specific heights to support an expected number of users with all the different 3,5, x G (high frequency, low distance) technologies. Putting up a 'temporary' overlay network would be very, very expensive.

 

I have problems at Commonwealth Stadium and other large venues when they are packed. It would seem a 'problem' anywhere where more than 60,000 people are crowded into a limited area hitting only a handful towers around.

 

I believe that you are correct. I have had the same problems at LP Field in Nashville, Arrowhead Stadium in KC, etc.

Until last year, I couldn't get a signal at Paul Brown Stadium either. Either way, if that's the only complaint about this weekend, the course and the city fared well with the most exciting major of the season. Well done by the Ville.

I think it's safe to say Golf has found some young stars that will keep interest and bring in some new fans instead thinking they need Tiger to bring in viewers.

 

This tournament basically didn't have tiger after the first 2 rounds yet broke attendance records for any PGA event.

 

Rory and R Fowler have huge followings and make for a much better rivalry than any in recent years. It is the Tiger/Mickelson rivalry of the 2000's

There was a lot made out of how dark it was on the last hole, but one of my good friends was there and said, I quote...

 

"They could see just fine. The bottom line is is that Rickie and Phil made mistakes down the stretch and Rory didn't."

 

This is a guy that knows the game pretty well too...

Put me in the camp that says Rickie gets one next year. He's playing too well not to and was quoted as saying yesterday that this was the first time it 'hurt' because he really felt like he had it. He'll grow from that and get one.... Unless Rory gets em all :eek:

I went to the tourney two days..Wednesday and Saturday...getting in an out (I came from the East) was way easier than I would have ever dreamed possible. ALL the people working the tournament were extremely courteous and friendly. I agree...well done!

I was there and can say this.

Some say Phil was upset because he wanted to finish before Rory to as you said, put up a score and pressure. That is fine and all but the reality is Phil and Rickie did finish first and Rory still had to finish after they did.

 

Also as far as the darkness went. If they didn't combine as a foursome to tee off etc. Then Rory wouldn't have been able to finish. It was getting dark fast and by the time Rory pitched out of the trap he would not of been able to see his drive, yes it was that dark.

I thought it was awesome, we were in the Wannamaker Tent a lot drinking cold beverages. I was only warned by the Mobile Device Police once but still got a couple cool shots. We saw Rory Eagle #10 which was awesome but we couldn't get close enough to watch the 18th. I got a late start getting to the Ville due to a buddy who wanted to stay out until 3am the night before chasing a Pure Romance consultant around town. I arrived around 2pm so when I heard play was suspended I was relieved.

 

The best part though of this tournament was hearing of the way spectators saved the life of a man in his 50's who literally collapsed and was dead with no pulse for around 4 minutes. A friend of mine sent his wife up to the 5th Green to stake out a spot waiting for the Final Foursome to approach and he stayed back around 40 yrds talking to some friends. He noticed a commotion up by his wife and she looked pale white and immediately put her phone to her ear. He sprinted up to see a man laying at her feet and a woman administering chest compressions. She was screaming call the medics, is anyone a Dr and get me an AED !!! A man then started breathing into the guy's mouth while the young lady gave compressions for 4 minutes. There was so much commotion the golfers stepped off the green. A guy comes running across the green, must have been a Doctor. Out of nowhere like 4 doctors who were there watching the tournament showed up and they ended up resuscitating the man saving his life. The fallen man's wife was frantic as you can imagine. I was actually buying a beer out of the beer cart on #7 and they wheeled the guy by me on a stretcher. He was in good shape, I noticed he had muscular build, shirt was off. I had no clue what happened until I heard from my friend who was there on the scene like an hr later. I pray this man makes a full recovery, if not for the immediate action of spectators this guy would have been a goner. The Medics took forever to get there and there were no AED's anywhere. I think they should have those devices at every hole and some sort of Medic as well.

Here is a pic of Justin Rose in a mess on #10 just outside the Wannamaker Tent. He ended up dropping just off the cart path and then asked officials to remove a man-made 10 ft green post that was directly in his way. He hit a beautiful shot back onto the fairway and very close to the green. This was the shot that got me the warning from the Mobile Gastapo.
