I can relate, reminds me of all the talk in Mf's win one year, I think it was 2010, when we beat H badly and a lot of folks chalked it up to H not being ready and fumbling it away when truth was simply that Mf hammered them. Same for Fairview year and William the following years

I got to studying the Mayfield team some more in 2011 and looked at 4 of the non district games that were competitive and 1 of the 4 games I don't think was competitive. Game 1 was a 20- 6 win over Greenwood, Game 2 24-6 win over Paducah Tilghman, and Game 3 21-7 win over Graves Co. In those 3 wins Jackson had big games over 200 yards except in the PT game when J. Guhy threw for 196 yards on 8 of 17 passing with 1 INT.had Both Jackson and Guhy had off night but that could of been because of the defense being pretty solid and capalizing on 4 turnovers on PT. Mayfield was not challenged again until Beechwood and Guhy threw 3 INTs against there defense and Jackson had 181 yards rushing yards. But Mayfield still won the game and got to go state to face Hazard. In that game Hazard shut down the run from Mayfield and forced the Cardinals to throw the ball instead of running it because they actually was in a panic. But the point of the matter I am trying to make is that Mayfield in 2011 was very beatable if you stopped Jackson and you didn't turn the ball over and capalize on there mistakes. Hazard also ended Mayfields 29 game winning streak which I almost forgot about it. I mean I know I will offend people by bringing this thread back up but I just couldn't help it because I saw a video the other night of hazards 2011 highlights.

That some good research.....did you ever see Jackson in person play ? You are exactly right, shut down Jackson and you had a chance in 11. If you go back and read , Jackson had a torn meniscus and that's what some are saying why Jackson was shut down in that game. Hazard did their thing and won but a healthy Jackson might could have run better and opened up the passing game. He took pressure off the the passing game. I knew all week he was hurt before the game and it was kept quiet and hoped he be able to play and be effective. He played but you could tell he was not the same. Hazard was ready and did their job they won and it doesn't matter now . Injuries are part of the game. I never saw Jackson with a leg injurie that I knew of in the 4 years that he played but I will say that was the only game I ever saw him just ordinary. The Hazard people will say it was their great defense and maybe it was a great defense but I find it very hard to believe that when nobody ever stopped him when he was healthy. He wasn't the fastest but he just wore you out. Congrats to Hazard on their 1st title, they earned it.

In 2011, Mayfield really didn't have a good backup RB.. It was a big dropoff from Jackson to Mills or Tyler.. JJ carried that team on his shoulders in several games that year and imo, Coach Morris went to the well a little too often with him that year.. I can't remember very many plays that Mr Jackson wasn't on the field, be it offense, defense or special teams.. Thats how valuable he was to that team.. But, in a 15 game season, thats going to wear on your body, regardless of injured or not.. I thought Mayfield had some really good WRs that year and they could pass the ball effectively, but, if you took out Jacksons ability to run it, they became too one-dimentional and teams could defend that..

Sounds to me like you really didn't know much about Mayfield in 11.

The key in 2011 was to stop Jackson. Teams knowed it. Some didn't stop him, Some did contain him, and Hazard stopped him.

You prove all the time , you really know nothing about the Mayfield 11 team....I give them credit...they stopped him and his one leg.

I am for moving on to talking about the times we beat Corbin, Somerset, NCC, Prestonburg, Bw, H, Fairview, Williamsburg or anything else so I can forget this one. Its like :deadhorse: to death!

Ok, Mr Guru, lets hear your take

Its pretty simple really, take out Hazards passing game, the QB and the defense and then see how well they do. Hazard said they stopped Jackson, but he was just standing out there and everybody on the Mayfield side knew it. Mayfield played teams as good as Hazard and bigger all season, you can't tell me Jackson wouldn't have broken some tackles and had some big gains that day had he been 100%.
