Best team in 6A/old 4A never to win a title.

The 2002 Male team immediately sprang to mind.

Male in 2006 with Dexter Heyman and Doug Beaumont was pretty outstanding as well.

I forgot about the 2006 squad. I remember watching that game with rockmom and deuce. Few games have had the same level of excitement that the 2002 and 2006 games did. Both ending on the 1 yard line as time expired (so to speak)

Lost me with this comment Sweeper.

Those BC teams were pretty good.

Sweeper is referring to the skfan who shall not be named.

Agree 87 Boone was better than 94 Boone.

And to answer this question X and T each may have several nominations when they lost to the other.

What year was it that Mike Glaser declared that "the better team did not win"?

The two (or was it three) St. X teams that thumped T in the reg season but lost in State were some impressive teams. I don't think they would have beat the 2002 Male team or the 2006 but they were very good.

Sounds like a coaching issue.

Wow...what a whiny baby.

Was the "the better team did not win" championship season the same year he whipped out brooms after the varsity game since the X Frosh, JV and Varsity swept Trinity in the regular season? Or am I confusing that to when he tipped his hat to the Trinity crowd after a regular season thumping of Trinity? Can't remember.

Man, that sounds like he needs to hang out with the likes of Jim Matney.

Seems to me like he was saying his team had better players................coaching not so much!

I agree G, he inadvertently said he was not a good enough coach to win.

2007 I think.

People who are much smarter football wise than I said that Glaser and the X staff had the X team better prepared at midway through the season than Beatty and staff hence X thumping Trinity but Beatty made great adjustments in the second half of the season and leading up to that game whereas the X team at the state championship was almost identical to the team back in September/October.

In 1994 St. X beat Male; who then lost to Fern Creek; who then lost to Boone Co; who then lost to Trinity.

1. The Male team in '02 was unbelievable. I was a sophomore in HS and I was talking with my Dad about the game and told him Male would win because of they had the best player on the field in Michael Bush.

2. 2005 St. X. That game was a shocker. An X team that had dominated during the regular season and seemed to play like they had already won the game after they scored on their opening drive.

3. Toss up between 2007 and 2008 X teams. Comments can be made about what happened and why X was not able to knock off the Rocks in the playoffs, but at the end of the day... it is tough to beat a good team 2 times in one season. Especially a team that knows you almost as well as you know yourself.
