The 91 Trinity team that lost to Clark County is at the top for me.

The 87 Montgomery County Indians and the 87 Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado were both very good teams.

Don't know about best ever, but you have to think the 2002 Male team will be in the discussion. Whoever lost those wars between Male/Trinity was going to have that distinction.

I was at that game and Trinity from the opening kick off played with a "nothing to lose" attitude. X looked nervous and seemed to be caught in the moment. That '08 team was really good, but T was not far behind them. From an X stand point, I would have to put the '05 team the best X team not to win a championship because they truly looked like a college team upfront, and in '05 T really was not as close to X as they were in '07 and '08.

 

Yes, 08 T was a lot closer to 08 X then they were between the 2 teams in 2005 but In terms of best team not to win state, 2008 X team was more dominant & Higher ranked nationally then 2005 X. As I said before 2008 X creamed every team in it's path by 3 tds or more including T until the 4 round playoff rematch. 2005 X team had quite a few tough games. Regular season games 05 X team had games with Bowling Green 13-7, Lex Cath 37-34, PRP 28-21 & Male 28-23. In the playoffs they barely got by John Hardin by 1 point 21-20. This is why 2008 X is ahead of 2005 X for best team not to whem state.

Best team to lose in playoffs: this from a former coach! The 1984 Trinity team had Carwell Gardner, Donnie Gardner, Andy Murray, & Mike Pfeiffer to name a few. They were shutout by Houk and the Tigers 20-0 in the first round of the playoffs. They also lost 9-3 to Ballard in the regular season. Those were the days when the Trinity staff stock-piled almost all of the football talent on defense.

Male 1994 - monster team.....loaded....and as a winner of the championship that season, they would've been a handful for us. That Boone County team was not going to beat us, any day, anytime....

Trinity 1992 - they were beastly, one of the best senior classes of all time for us. They ran through the regular season and playoffs, only to lose to Ballard in the regional finals

You guys are crazy to think that the1987 team was better than the 1994 team... The 1994 team was the only Boone co team to ever go undefeated and loose in the state game../ all respect to the runner ups...

The 87 team was undefeated and lost in the finals to Shelby County a team they beat earlier in the regular season.

they lost 2 games 94 team lost one state finals game .... Also athlete wise 94 team just didn't have Shaun there were weapons all over the field . The 94 team had 8 players who were sub 4.5 40 who played both ways... Special teams no one would respect or kick the ball deep... The Louisville teams played us on a short field because they knew we were 3 yards and a cloud of dust

We kicked the ball deep and punted to that team. They only got a short field once. Considering I'm no where near sub 4.5 on the 40 and ran guys down including a kickoff returner from behind.

 

The 93 North Harden team scared me more than the 94 Boone team. That 93 team had weapons. I'm not saying they were the best team to not win it but they were one heck of a team that year. They had pretty close to the same amount of fire power as the 93 Male team.

I am not sure where you got your info that the 87 team lost two games but it is wrong.

87 team only had one player that went both ways and that was only for a few plays on defense, his name was Tony Law.

Two teams that could deserve slight consideration; 2009 Simon Kenton who lost to St. X (eventual state champion) in the Regional finals and 2010 Ryle who lost to Trinity (eventual state champion) in the state semifinals.

 

Both teams had division 1 players and set many school records.
