July 11, 201412 yr Man, it's good to see you back! I had to come back. I heard you jumped ahead of me in posts.

July 12, 201412 yr Author ... I was surprised that the atmosphere gas question was missed by so many. Only 31% of college grads got it right and the best score in all the other demographic groups was 25% answering correctly. I think its related to the stuff they are drilled with concerning the 2nd to last question - global warming theory. Or they think we live in an oxygen rich environment since they know that is critical gas. But as Apollo 1 showed - that is not good. BTW, any SCUBA divers who missed the atmosphere question need to turn in their PADI card.

July 12, 201412 yr Didn't you grow up on a farm? Sorta kinda...it was a "summer on the farm, winter in Louisville" kind of life.
July 12, 201412 yr I believe the correct answer to this is dissolution. Correct about sugar. Water is the universal solvent. The change of water to steam by boiling however can't be qualified correctly as dissolution.

July 12, 201412 yr Just ran questions past my 13yo Honor Student Daughter...13 out of 13 and she answered a lot of them before I gave her any options.
July 12, 201412 yr Sorta kinda...it was a "summer on the farm, winter in Louisville" kind of life. I ask this same question of my mom, who grew up on a pig farm in Iowa: How the hell can you grow up on a farm and not know how to swim?
July 12, 201412 yr I ask this same question of my mom, who grew up on a pig farm in Iowa: How the hell can you grow up on a farm and not know how to swim? Well, we played in the creek but we never swam. We don't have a pond or lake, just creeks, branches and a plethora of cold, cold springs with the best water on earth.
