I believe they are flying for $75 per person roundtrip, which made me wonder if the planes were of normal size, seating room,etc.

July 3, 201412 yr Outstanding. Flew from Huntington to Myrtle last summer in about 50 minutes. Relatively small plane but for a flight of that distance I think you'd be crazy not to use Allegient. They're extremely cheap and as safe as anyone.
July 3, 201412 yr I looked into using them to fly to Orlando. It seemed as though after all the add ons they weren't all that cheaper than Delta. They charge you for bags, the ability to pick your seat, and all sorts of stuff. Am I wrong?
July 3, 201412 yr I fly Allegiant to St Pete all the time. You pay extra for everything. Even carry on bags have a fee. The only thing that is free, is a personal bag that goes under the seat in front of you. Overhead bin is carry on bag and is $14. It's still pretty darn cheap, and if you travel lite like me, it's round trip to St Pete for $110
July 3, 201412 yr I have never flown on Allegiant but I interviewed for a job with them at their Las Vegas headquarters about 5 years ago. They have an interesting business model. They buy older, less fuel efficient planes from the major airlines and refurbish them. They fly only non-stop to a few destinations like Orlando, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, etc. Their goal is to minimize their capital investment and fly out of regional airports. They generally do not compete directly with the major airlines on the routes that they fly. Allegiant may have changed their business strategy in the past five years, but they were very profitable at a time when many airlines were losing money. I was impressed with their operation but I accepted a job offer in DC a couple of days after my interview in Las Vegas.
July 3, 201412 yr My Daughter and Mom flew from Lexington to Ft.Myers earlier this year. They had a great experience. $75 roundtrip sounds awful cheap, that might be one way. You have to have your act together as far as size of your carryon or you will get hit with high charges.
