The 9th region tournament should be very interesting!

How about Hudy lightin' it up !! Nothing like senior guards at tourney time! Takes a lot of the heat off Vories. Were there any "T's" last night??

The anticipation and build up for the game just isn't there. The game didn't even come close to a sell-out in the regular season. Maybe the game means more to the Hill than to HHS....

You guys just won your district, how much build up do you need.

I wanted to be there, had previous engagement. Definetly going to Ryle, hopefully 3 times:dancingpa

 

 

I wanted to go but had too many withdraws from the marital bank this week and had to make some deposits.....and no not that way... trust me.

 

My daughter said it was packed.... I think the rivalry has lost flavor because of the fact that they don't play us in football anymore. There are several NCC boys living in Ft. Thomas so it is strange. Should be interesting in the future as my boy's 5th grade AAU team consist of 5 boys heading to HHS and 5 possibly heading for the hill......

Senior Leadership won the game for the Birds. I didn't realize until I read the Enquier but all the points were from Seniors. Guidugli 19, Hudepohl 12, Vories 11, Johnson 10, Smith 6. Big defense out of seniors on Kiernan. He had the Breds first 6 points and finshed the game with only 10 and he fouled out. Hudy hit the treys when the Birds needed them in the 2nd Quarter. Ben was big all night. Johnson, Smith, and Eaton all came in and made big plays on both offense and Defense. I think Johnson had at least 4 blocks. Smith had great drive from the left corner and drew the foul too to make a three point play. So glad to see this team can win big when Jeff is having an off night.

 

Simpson played great defense on Beuter. I said going into this game the key to beating NCC was pressure on Beuter. HE is the nucleus of the team and just makes things happen. Looked like Simpson had him worn out by the third quarter. And of course it didn't help that Kevin would have to turn around and try to stay with Vories.

I have been saying it all along... someone else has to step up during the tournament... Maybe Hudy will do this next week. They need him for atleast 3-5 minutes a game to come in and give them a spark either from behind the arc or on the defensive end of the floor. It is nice to see Ben G play against teams that don't match up well with him physically. Tanner seems to be playing better defense as he had a few blocks against Bellevue. If Simpson can play D like he did last night during the tournament, I will take a goosegg on the offense side anytime. Jeffrey had a great tournament and so did the entire team, nice job in taking the District. :ylsuper:

What are you talking about? The build-up and rivalry not there, You obviously weren't there at 5:15 to see the HHS fans arriving. We got there at 6:00, parking lot was full and there were about 75 students already in the stands for the Birds. None for NCC yet. The fans started cheering to the other side "Why so Quiet" when there was no one there. My favorite cheer of the night was "Hey Willy open the door, let the bluebirds on the floor".

 

A student said that is all that was talked about this week at school. They even had 5 students announce on the PA at school and to tell kids to show up at 5:15 for Blue and White Crazy night.

 

The regular season game looked pretty crowded to me. I'm not sure there were many students not there and that was after a sell-out at the Cov Cath game the night before.

 

So open up those eyes man. For many in Caketown this is still a rivalry. Not all of us hide behind those football helmets!

The key to the game last night was the play of Chad Hudepohl and Tanner Johnson. Chad made four huge three's and of the games that I have seen this year, that was Tanner's best. He needs to stay on the floor for this team to win the region. Jeff Vories is still the straw that stirs the drink for this team. He did have an off night, but I think he had a lot to do with Beuter and Gesenhues running out of gas toward the end of the game.

You are right, he is the key. But I think we found out last night that there are four wheels that go on the Bluebird bus as well. And it is going to take them all to win this region.

HHS and CCH are making the same strides lately. Highlands has learned to win games when Vories does not have a good game, and CCH is winning games when TJ is not doing well. This is what separates "regional contenders" from regional champions. For Holmes, when Hill is not doing well... they seem to struggle (see last night's second half against CCH). Tough draw for both teams being on the same side of the bracket.

Yeah, boy, that sure is original. Nothing like stealing a cheer that was worn out in PRICE HILL of all places, like 25 years ago. Boy those Highlands kids are really smart, they can read about a Elder cheer in the paper on Sunday, and then copy it a full five days later. :irked:

Yeah boy, criticizing cheers for being unoriginal is real original. Blueblood said it was his favorite cheer. Don't see anything in your quote of his that says it was original. Take some Dexatrim and lighten up my friend. But at least one small part of your thread was accurate: the kids from Highlands are pretty smart.
