Students: School's Computers Blocked GOP, Conservative Websites

[h=1]Student: School's Computers Blocked GOP, Conservative Websites[/h]

A high school student in Connecticut spoke out at a school board meeting this week after being unable to view conservative websites on school computers.According to FoxCT.com, 18-year-old Andrew Lampart, a senior at Nonnewaug High School, believes there may have been censorship in the implementation of a firewall system that the school uses to block certain websites.

He said he first noticed an issue when he was blocked from the NRA's website, but then had no problem getting onto sites that advocate for stricter gun control laws, like Moms Demand Action and Newtown Action Alliance. Lampart then said that he logged onto the state's Democratic Party website before being blocked from the Connecticut GOP site.

Not shocked at all. This whole liberal administration should be tried for treason and sent to live in Detroit.

That's so whacked out I have to think there's more to the story. I hope so.

No more to the story than the IRS deleting all the crap they did.

Dirty unwashed liberals.

Dirty unwashed liberals.

Gotta ask though, are you okay with it if they did block conservative websites on school computers?

Come on now, what does this liberal administration have to do with how this school censors its websites? I guess they sent emails to all the schools in America telling them to block conservative websites.

I thought so until it mentioned that the state GOP website was blocked. Normally IT departments are instructed to block known websites like Facebook, twitter and others. My first thought was that NRA is likely more well known than Moms Demand Action and Newton Alliance. I raised an eyebrow once I saw the state GOP website was blocked and the state Democrat site wasn't blocked. Hopefully they find a way to remedy the situation to make it fair and equal.

For true liberals (revolutionary wanna-be's) 'there is only the fight'.

We have a high school student making the claim with no supporting evidence at this point. Given my experience with the mistakes and misunderstandings a high school student makes, I'll wait to condemn until I'm sure it actually happened. As I said, I hope it is just a mistake by the student as the alternative is way too damning for whoever made the decision. If it comes out true I absolutely think this is important enough for the person to lose their job for a blatant attempt to indoctrinate the students.

This is why you are one of posters that I respect the most. :thumb:

I agree on all accounts. I'll add that sometimes certain sites get inadvertently blocked. NASA's website somehow got blocked at my school this year. I just called the IT department and within a few minutes it was active again.

More than likely, in fact I would bet that, who ever made the decision to block those web sites made it alone. I doubt that it was a school board or even a school administrator that made those decisions...just some IT Guy or school Librarian that had the power to block sites and injected their own personal politics into it. NO MASS CONSPIRACY HERE, IMO!!!

Agreed. Or it could just be a fluke, like TB&G alluded to.
