Here's a three-year-old story in which the opposite occurred -- school blocked same sex websites. I guess these school blocking filters come in a wide assortment of ideologies.

Not exactly the same since it wasn't allowing the republican's website while blocking the democrats. I think that's what people would understand the least if it happened as claimed.

When friend of mine was teaching school, she said lots of "legitimate" websites were blocked by school district blockers -- Yahoo mail, for instance. So some of these blocks may be more collateral damage than political censorship. Regardless, anyone can simply visit any website as desired at home or at friend's house after school.

A high school student in Connecticut spoke out at a school board meeting this week after being unable to view conservative websites on school computers.According to FoxCT.com, 18-year-old Andrew Lampart, a senior at Nonnewaug High School, believes there may have been censorship in the implementation of a firewall system that the school uses to block certain websites.

 

He said he first noticed an issue when he was blocked from the NRA's website, but then had no problem getting onto sites that advocate for stricter gun control laws, like Moms Demand Action and Newtown Action Alliance. Lampart then said that he logged onto the state's Democratic Party website before being blocked from the Connecticut GOP site.

No argument here, as mentioned above a lot of little known websites can be allowed or disallowed without really knowing who they are. As I said, most people would have a problem with allowing access to one party's website but blocking access to the other's. That's not a mistake and it doesn't matter if the student's have access elsewhere. Allow both or block both.

I know of a school that blocked BGP, because a couple of guys were spending time on it during school time. Do you think that may be the case at your school?
