Well said. I thought this thread would blow up when it was started, but the majority of the Bird faithful are either silent or perhaps have left the building all together. I am curious to hear more about the Wide Receiver situation now that Jensen Feggins has decided to transfer and a majority of last year's receivers have graduated. Big hole to fill in the backfield now that 3 year starter Zack Harris has moved on. Offensive line graduated everyone with only one player returning who has any experience.

 

Defensive side of the ball should be the strong point of this team IMO. Lots of kids returning that gained valuable experience at the LB and DL positions. Who will play Corner and Safety on this team?

 

With all do respect Sir, I have come to love and follow Lex Catholic. I live behind the campus and have become a huge fan of their athletic program for the last 15 years. I love the mini rivaly in the playoffs that they have with FT Highlands for the last 3 season. I always envy what the Birds have done with their successful program... Class Act. " Just do it on the field ". Where other programs " Just Talk ". Successful programs do not talk about their accomplishment, they just go out and do it. Thats why programs like Cov Cath, Lex Cath, FT Highlands, Scott Co, St X. Trinity, Belfry, Mayfield, Bowling Green are successful year in and year out..... Sorry if I left other programs out.

Any chance Hoge moves back to WR with Feggins leaving and the 6'4/5? Hergott taking over @ QB?

 

Any chance we see the TE position come back? If yes who might play that position?

 

Who will play center and will they ever go back to the QB under center? I personally would like to see it especially in the short yardage situations.

Hoge will be the QB IMO. Believe there will be a TE this year, just not sure who will be playing it. Kyler Dalton will be the center and is the only lineman returning with any varsity experience. Are we sure Veneman will be returning punts?

Agree 100% with your first statement. Beau will have a hand in every play and that is the way it should be. Kendall I would assume will see some action at RB. Dougherty on the other hand will not. My understanding that he has been moved to the other side of the ball.

Good question on the WR rotation. Watson is playing this year at running back and I do not believe that Whitford will be returning.

 

Not sure anyone will play both ways full time. I would expect numerous kids to potentially be used on the other side of the ball in certain situations/games. Urlage has been moved to offense and Dougherty has been moved to defense.

I would agree with you, just throwing it out there since @ Highlands they always seem to have guys that can contribute sitting on the bench and I wouldn't be able to make judgment until later in the summer what the talent separation is @ QB between Hoge and Hergott. Any chance Hergott can play some TE?

I am going to guess that Hergott is going to have to do what McCoy, Houliston and Hoge have done and that is to wait his turn and when the opportunity presents itself, he needs to take the bull by the horns.

Whitford could certainly help @ WR, heard he was effective last year playing in some early JV games. Wonder when the "If only Highlands could get some of the Baseball players to come out for Football" thread will start. Kidding of course....
