And that growth is happening in demographic groups that are not voting Republican. Obama not only gained percentage with Hispanics, the Hispanic vote grew from 8% of the total to 10%. The next Republican candidate can get out the vote and win a higher percentage and total of that number and lose by an even wider margin than McCain. George Will was one person who was talking a lot about this after the 2012 election.

After watching our country vote the second time around for Obama I dont know how anyone could predict what will happen.

Yes, it is pretty obvious that Republicans need to do better among Hispanics to win in 2016 but the way to do that is not to become more like Democrats.

 

If Republicans run like Democrats and assume that Hispanics only care about amnesty for illegals and government handouts, then they will lose the election and also lose support among conservatives as well. That strategy has served Democrats well at the ballot box but it is also the reason that our country's foundation is crumbling. Either a majority of Americans will wake up and realize what is being done to them or elections will become as meaningless as they were in the old Soviet Union.

The one who aligns the closest to my political slant is Paul. So, I feel it's my duty to vote accordingly, however, I don't feel confident at all that he'll proceed to the ticket in 2 yrs, sadly.

This CNN poll is about a month old, but the GOP lines up like this:

If I were standing at futures wagering window I would put some cash down on Paul. I imagine you could get some relatively favorable odds too. With the exception of Cruz - who is in this race out of vanity, not earnestness - the rest of the field is as open and unpredictable as it could get. And there will surely be a few more entrants.

Following from a Columbus Dispatch story after the '12 election ... and yet the GOP feels that draconian measures to suppress the vote are needed. Even Rand Paul is saying such do more harm than good to the Republican cause.

I don't. But I wouldn't be surprised if others didn't feel it out, either. Maybe with fewer televised debates there will be less vanity or trivial candidates this time. But, I still think there is a void in the "establishment" candidate mold, especially if Bush declines.

Certainly, liberal Democrats buy votes by handing out free benefits to low-information voters. They pander to groups of voters and don't waste time appealing to the reason of individual voters.

 

Hispanics are not a homogenous group and most liberals assume that granting amnesty to illegal aliens will be enough to buy their votes. Hispanics are not single issue voters. They came here to in search of a better life for their families and for themselves. I refuse to believe that they want to see this country transformed into another Mexico any more than I do. It is in their best interest for this country to have a strong economy and a country that does not protect its borders cannot prosper for long.

 

I believe that the way Democrats view its minority constituents is insulting and demeaning and that Republicans should be campaigning hard among all minority groups - not by bidding against Democrats for their votes, but selling the American dream. Many blacks and Hispanics are much more conservative than their voting records indicate but Republicans has done a poor job reaching out to them and asking for their votes. Maybe their answer will be "no" repeatedly, but people appreciate it when politicians actually campaign for their votes.

 

Instead of attacking conservatives within their own party and emulating Democrats with their "centrist" policies, the national GOP should be much more active in courting minority votes - not with liberal ideas but with conservative ones.

 

Furthermore, the GOP needs to be in constant campaign mode when recruiting voters and candidates to the party and not just when big elections loom near. Liberals have dominated the local governments of most major cities in this country, and residents of those cities should hear Republicans ask them repeatedly what do they have to show for their votes.

If he runs, I will add him to the list of candidates that I could enthusiastically support in a general election. If a northerner like Scott Walker wins the nomination, then Col. West would be a great choice as his running mate.

I am very well acquainted with Col. West's background. The fact that an Obama supporter would refer to any potential Republican candidate as a clown is quite amusing.
