Way off. The fact that Mr. West is black has nothing to do with what I'm addressing. He got fired from his last job (a right-wing media company) for making inappropriate remarks about a female co-worker. Please ... put him up against Hillary in '16.

The problem for you is that most of the blanks have been filled in for Obama. He just released five mass murders from prison for a deserter and now he is creating a refugee crisis along our southern border. Yet, he still has your enthusiastic support. Whatever spin you put on Allen West's career, you cannot make Obama look good in comparison.

 

It is difficult to understand Obama supporters attempting to smear any politician. They should be outside with their cars under the cloak of darkness trying to remove those old Obama bumper stickers.

In 1964 the Republicans voted for the civil rights act by over 80%. The Democrats - less than 70%.

 

So something is not adding up here....

If we need a candidate who can win the middle, often represented by voters in states like the ones listed above, does that not show credibility that Rand has the likability, power and resources to do it?

I think Rand Paul is a candidate that looks good until the attack ads start. He has just enough over the edge stuff that it will scare voters if they look really close at him and listen to the attack ads, which we know people do even though everyone supposedly hates them.

What you're referring to is already out and about. Attacks are directed at him daily -- from the left and especially the right.

 

He is one of THE most, if not most, searched and written about politician according to Google. He has arguably the best fundraising numbers of any prospective presidential candidate. He is constantly on top or in the top tier of any poll, both against members of his own party, and against Hillary.

 

POLITICO ran a question to political operatives/campaign managers as to which GOP politician they wanted to endorse their candidate out of the many prospective 2016 GOP presidential candidates. Rand topped that wishlist.

 

The negatives are having a tough time breaking through the glass.

 

All numbers (fundraising, polling, popularity) indicate nothing but positives for the junior Senator from Kentucky.

 

My post was to demonstrate to people who believe that Rand is too extreme to win a general because he will alienate the Independents or Moderates, that theory simply doesn't hold.

^ I agree, but the vast majority just aren't paying that much attention. If he makes it to the general election where every eye twitch gets picked apart, I think those middle of the road voters will become concerned and will not feel comfortable voting for him for President.

Always a possibility. He's said some things that he will catch flak for. As has every prospective candidate. Especially Hillary.

 

But right now, the numbers don't support the theory that:

 

a) Rand is a candidate who cannot attract independents and moderates; and

b) things he's said in the past are/will hurt[ing] him

 

If the people who are paying attention to it, constantly sifting through the daily news, got over it and don't care that much about it, I don't see, with the right amount of money, how the campaign couldn't overcome.
