May 22, 201412 yr He may have a rubber arm, but you simply can't expect him to double or triple his # of innings and remain healthy/effective. He's a big boy. If anybody can do it he can.
May 22, 201412 yr Send him to the pen to keep his innings down and if someone else goes down you know you can put him back in a starter role. Nice backup plan to have.
May 22, 201412 yr First, Homer is NOT going to the pen. Second, I have never gotten the feeling that Homer isn't a team first guy. If signing a big contract makes him that, well given the opportunity, I guess there wouldn't be a single team first guy on the planet. Third, Homer is NOT going to the pen. I haven't got the feeling either that Homer isn't a team first guy. I've had a few conversations with him throughout the years and a few of them have been after he started that night. On every occasion when I'd say good game or something to that effect he'd reply with a comment about the team and not about him and how he pitched.
May 22, 201412 yr We all have our opinions but, I won't stray off the thread with my opinions on Homer. I agree Simon goes back to the bullpen.
May 22, 201412 yr Theoretically, some guys are getting work out of necessity and the reality is that things could fall into place that makes it a bonus going forward. Simon can spot start, go long relief. One would hope Homer gets better (I'm a major doubter). Latos can come back to his usual self. Cueto continues on the same path. Same for Leake, who has been outstanding. Votto, Bruce both return healthy. The pen has to get better, but seriously, can it get worse? This team has the potention to make a run, if healthy. And this team has the potential to tank.

If the pen was at full strength, Hoover is never in that situation. Does that mean the Reds win all of them? Of course not, but I like my chances with Broxton in the 8th & Chapman in the 9th much moreso than Ondrusuck & Hoover.

May 22, 201412 yr I just can't balme 2-1 and 1-0 losses on the ptchers Totally agree. It seems like our pitchers are left hanging alot. We have 1 player batting over 300, which is Meseraco and he's only been in 18 games.

They are going to need Votto, Bruce, and BP to at least hit the back of their baseball card, and continue to get good production from Meso/Pena, BHam, and Frazier. LF hitting .260 is workable. Cozart hitting .240-.250 is a bonus. But their pitching needs to be good, and they need to get Votto and Bruce in form.
May 22, 201412 yr Im hoping Boom Boom Bailey in the pen and Ill drive Ondrusek to Louisville. If not I guess poor Cingrani gets the boot. I think Simon deserves to stay in the rotation

May 22, 201412 yr I have no problem hanging several of the losses on Hoover. That would be 4. I don't know how many were one run games.
