Any truth to the rumor that his reality show is on Bravo?

Publicly, everyone on the Rams who has expressed an opinion about Sam has been supportive. But the same player said that privately, some players may just be expressing political correctness, rather than giving their honest views about having Sam on the team.

 

“Clearly I’m not sure how everyone feels, but from what I can tell so far I think it’s a little bit of both, honestly,” he said.

 

If players have a problem with Sam’s sexual orientation, that’s their problem. But if Sam is alienating teammates with a perception that he’s trying to make himself a star while everyone else is simply trying to make the roster, that could be a problem for him.

They should find out who the player was that said he has concerns and fine and suspend him. How dare he have an opinion.

How's this any different from the show "Hard Knocks"?

 

 

It focuses on one mediocre defensive end who got drafted in the 7th round instead of focusing on an entire team.

This is also a prime example as to why many teams may have avoided Sam. Whether they care or not about his sexuality, teams do not want players using their NFL team as platform to launch a social crusade, no matter the cause because it can lead to a media circus atmosphere. Especially when said player is viewed as a marginal talent. See Tim Tebow. From a team's perspective they have a legit point. We are often critical of teams that will roll the dice on talented trouble makers or media clowns like a Chad Johnson in saying it is not worth the trouble, yet we are supposed to on board with a questionable NFL talent bringing about one of societies greatest dividing issues and non-sport's media upon a team??? I can see a team's perspective on choosing to or not to choose Sam, football stuff aside.

If he's not good enough he's going to need some of that Oprah money.

I'm glad the Giants didn't draft Sam. Not because of his sexual preference. But because I think he will create a distraction demanding so much attention. Not to mention if the rams cut him alot of people will be upset because they will say they cut him because he's gay.

All I can say is that my bet is that Oprah got pretty lathered at the notion of making this a spectacle.

And this is where Sam is opening himself up to be a target. If it was just the "gay issue" everyone would be supportive, even privately for the the most part, but by taking on the reality show Sam is opening himself up for criticism because he is contradicting himself and that criticism/contradiction is a platform for others to pile on about all things they don't like Michael Sam but were otherwise afraid to say, even privately.

 

From a personal perspective, I was really rooting for Sam because I think it took enormous courage to come out but now that he is contradicting himself (just want it to be about football and the reality show will be anything but that) I am a little turned off my Sam. In other words, he went from someone I held in high esteem to just another hustler.
