White House Correspondent's Dinner

Almost always a hoot.

My favorite line was about the American winning the Boston Marathon and it was only fair since a Kenyan has been the President the last six years.

I've always enjoyed the jokes coming out of these dinners.

I realize that I am part of a tiny minority, but I would love to have an American president who refused to appear on talk shows to read jokes that taxpayer paid writers prepared - a president who either avoided events like the White House Correspondents' Dinner or resisted the temptation to use the platform to smear his political opponents. (The Koch brothers are not even in the top 20 list of political donors and the list is dominated by Obama supporters.)

I would like my president to be capable of using humor appropriately and spontaneously, while acting as the president of all Americans, not just the ones who helped get him elected. I would like to see a president who spends less time golfing and vacationing and more time working - one whose daily calendar routinely reflects a work week more typical of a top CEO than that of a Kardashian girl.

Don't get me wrong, I think that a good sense of humor is important in a national leader but Obama's vicious attacks on Americans who honestly disagree with his political agenda don't pass for what I consider a good sense of humor. Obama is a thin-skinned tyrant and good joke writers are no substitute for good character.

Who wants to watch Obama make fun of his enemies. Its stupid.

I would rather watch Obama get interviewed by Sean Hannity. That would be pay per view. But Obama is too chicken.

I'd love to see that interview also as long as Hannity wouldn't speak over Obama when Obama answers his question.

That would be an entertaining interview but I am not a big Hannity fan. I would much rather see Mark Levin interview Obama under oath. (Just to be fair, I would be okay with both Obama and Levin being placed under oath and the interview held in the form of a deposition with a federal judge moderating.)

I know that the White House Correspondent's Dinner is always a very fun and light-hearted event with a lot of humor woven throughout the evening. However, I noticed the other night when my wife had the TV on the E! channel or one of those other channels that features a bunch of fashion critics rambling on about which celebrity wore what shoes to whichever red carpet event that there were TONS of celebrities (with no connection to politics, journalism, or the White House Correspondent's Association) in attendance at the dinner. Is that regular order?

I've always thought that is was a celebrity filled event.

There are always several invited celebrities.

I know there are always some celebrities there...it just seemed to me that this one in particular had MUCH more than usual. Was curious if there was a reason for it.

Don't disagree with your sentiment but concerning the bolded above: That described Jimmy Carter to a tee. Just saying. :thumb:

I'd like to see that too, but I seriously doubt Obama would answer his questions.
