It almost sounds like Owens was playing against both teams every night.

First of all I would like to comment that I believe Pratt is a super, super man and congratulations to Boyd on the better than normal year.

 

But, I do want to express my concern and everyone elses concern on what our County has gotten to. We have created a trend in our County that players make the Rules and do as they please. Irregardless how nice of guys our Basketball and Football coaches are, they have been bullied around by the players for the past 2 years. All coaches realize their fate and destiny is in their own hands, if they are not willing to take a stand against the players, then how in the world will they ever face the parents. We have had some of the best athletes play both sports in the past 2 years and with a little discipline to these kids, they would have made a great step for themselves, but by letting them walk all over you as a coach, that is not doing justice to yourself or your program. Like I said, I respect all coaches in this County, but I would have loved to seen these kids act this way against Roger Zornes, Tom Scott and Teenie Vanhoose!

I think I understand what you are saying, and I do agree with some of what you are saying, but we still need to be supportive of our programs, thru thick or thin. :thumb:

I Agree.

The line gets fuzzy for people(although it shouldnt) when they dont seperate "supporting a program" and "condoning wrong behavior".

It sends the wrong message to our young kids and adults that its OK to act in certain way as long as your an athlete or on a certain team.

Ironically, I mentioned my comparision between football team and the basketball team on a earlier post. After the second Ashland/BC game I asked if team chemistry and a downward slide was going to be a problem and I got the old snooze smilie? In hindsight the comparison in regards to player-player and player-coach relations could have been right on! Actually that is unfotunate.

Isn't it asking alot of any coach to do in a couple of hours a day, a few days a week what the parents don't do the other 22 hours of the day? It starts with the parents and ends there. A profanity-laden tyrade by a parent/guardian in the stands about something that happened on the floor should send a red flag as to how the kids are gonna act. How is a coach gonna change the spots on that leopard? It's not only at BC but everywhere. Had Coach Pratt or any coach for that matter "taken a stand" as you say, there very well may not have been 5 players to dress. I believe that if you find a kid who is willing to work, be humble, do what he's asked and act in an appropriate manner, put the team before himself/herself, you'll likely find a parent from the same mold that has instilled that in the kid long before a varsity coach has met him/her.

Well said Spindoc, I think if players want to know how to act they only need to go to Rose Hill and look at the frame hanging below the scoreboard. You don't have to be an All-American to be a great team player, but you have to be a great team player to be an All-American.

I think that the program at BC is in trouble due to the negative things that has happened in basketball and football. I believe that BC had the best talent of the teams in the region this year and it just wasnt used right. Now it has to fall back on the coach. But BC is going to be hard to beat in baseball though.

I definelty think Ashland should be the favorite going into next season!:dancingpa followed in a close second by Russell:fight:
