No doubt in my mind Keaton will do a great job. There are some good coaches in that building that Keaton will be able to get on staff and or lean on for guidance.

Where are you going to find that at? An older assistant to take a back seat to a first year head coach would probably have to be found in the school system. Who coaches freshman and middle school at PC?

Great choice for the Pendelton County program. Belcher will infuse some new energy and excitement into the program.

It's my understanding that Brent Sowder, who was on staff in 2012-2013 and Kane Belcher will be on staff. Sowder was the 8th grade coach last year at Sharp, who won a disatrict championship. Both these guys are great assets to the program. Glad to see they'll be involved.

His brother Kane, and Brent Sowder will undoubtedly be on staff next year. Kane played at PC, and Pikeville College when they won a national championship. He also has served as the JV head coach at Beechwood, and freshman/varsity assistant this year at PC.

 

Brent Sowder brings back (Was on varsity staff last 6-7 years at PC before last year) great X's & O's, and great relationships with the kids. The kids respect him, and always give him 110%.

 

Glad to see PC get one right with this hire. I think they will certainly play extremely hard, and in a few years could be right back in the mix of things.

Sowder has been at PC for 8 years I believe? 3 as freshman head coach, 4 as JV head coach, and then last year as 8th grade head coach.

 

Stapleton coached the current sophmore, soon to be junior group as 7th graders and 8th graders. I believe he was an assistant one of the years with varsity team as well. He's been the head freshman coach, and varsity assistant the last two years at Mason Co.

Wirth would fill that role well. He is a former head coach as well as assistant that was on staff one year with Biggs and the entire time Simms was head coach. Would he even consider a position? Will he coach somewhere next year?

Congrats to Keaton. I am excited for both him and the program.

Thrilled for Keaton and the PC program. I talked with him at the State Tourney, such a delightful young man. Given the time to build the program, I am sure he will do a great job.

Congrats to Keaton on this great news! His energy, knowledge and enthusiasm will bleed into this program and churn out good basketball. Great hire.
