I can't find how many times if at all he's reached base on an error, but I did see has 9 runs with 17 hits and 3 walks. I wonder how many other people score nearly half the time they reach base?

That kinda goes hand in hand with my thinking....He can have an OBP that's a little less than ideal for a leadoff hitter, because when he does get on base, I imagine he scores at a higher % than most guys who have a higher OBP.

Hell, we need a new stat for that then.

Scored When Other Guys Wouldn't

Donald Lutz off to a hot start this year. Hitting .353 4 HRs and 9 RBIs.

Simple formula....(Runs Scored/# of Times on Base) * (OBP)

I think it was Jim Rome who tweeted that Billy Hamilton may be the most exciting baseball player of all-time....:lol2:

The look on Hamilton's face when Votto got thrown out at 2nd on the double steal was like "you slow bastard".:lol2:

Guessing that formula will show he can get on at a 32% clip and produce runs at the rate of most that have a 40% OBP...

More like, "What are you doing idiot? I had this base stolen, and you just took a stolen base away from me"

Yep.

Hamilton to Votto "you do the hitting, I'll do the running". Votto to Hamilton "deal, cause you sure won't do much of the hitting".

I actually read a stat about that last year. I'll look for the article. It calculated a new OBP based on a 90% steal rate making it more likely for him to score the same amount of runs as if he got on at a .380 clip.

There will definitely need to be new stats added to show his true impact on a game.
