April 8, 201412 yr ...one more time "these kids are all Freshman"..."their just 18 years old"..."we are a very young team" etc. etc. etc...I think my head will explode! He said it at half time last night during the side line interview, he said it multiple times at the post game conference. I didn't see any pre-game interviews he may have done, but I'm quite sure any that he did do he mentioned it there as well. Come on guys, Cal can not keep using his teams youth as an excuse if he is going to use the one and done model to build his teams every year. You can't have it both ways, he wants his cake and wants to eat it too. It's his system, you know if you have 6-7 freshman that get all the PT most every year, then you can't complain or use the excuse of them being young. It's YOUR system. Better coach them up or get them to grow up quick. It's almost become a built in excuse for him it seems when UK plays badly or loses a game that maybe they should have won. Someone asked about Randle coming out of the game so early last night. Cal said he was tired...and the first reason he gave for him being tired so quick? Because he's young! Uhhhhhh. Sorry guys. No secret to some on here that I'm no UK fan. But the "we are young" thing got long in the tooth a while ago.
April 8, 201412 yr Then maybe you should send a memo to all the stupid reporters who ask the same stupid questions about teenagers and then the answer can change.

I bet Donovan with his seniors and upper classmen would have liked that opportunity. 4) Then why does it bother you?
April 8, 201412 yr Like it or not, they are freshmen and they will play like freshmen. It may seem like an excuse but it is still a fact. They are freshmen.
April 8, 201412 yr Like it or not, they are freshmen and they will play like freshmen. It may seem like an excuse but it is still a fact. They are freshmen. Yep. Not that difficult to figure out.
April 8, 201412 yr Like it or not, they are freshmen and they will play like freshmen. It may seem like an excuse but it is still a fact. They are freshmen. Truth. They will play lights out at times, and remind you why they're 18 and 19 years old at others.
April 8, 201412 yr I've not heard Cal use their age as an excuse for not winning. When Cal talks to the media, he's also talking to the fan base and the players. He's great at it. His goal is to try and get the players to take some pressure off themselves and for the fan base to ease up a bit. He takes the blame when they lose. He doesn't blame the players. In fact he said he didn't do a good enough job, he needed to come up with a couple of more things to help them win.
April 8, 201412 yr It has gotten a little repetitive, although last night I thought he was saying that in order to defend some of the players.

I think he is very calculated in what he says during those brief interviews (which are dumb to begin with).

And being a fan of college basketball in general, yes I watch UK play and watch some of the local coverage.

And being a fan of college basketball in general, yes I watch UK play and watch some of the local coverage. 1) I just don't understand why you'd assume, it doesn't do any good. 2) Yes it is. He has never had a team at UK where this many minutes were played by freshmen. Feel free to check that if you don't believe me. 3) So every coach failed to "coach them up" except for Kevin Ollie who was the winner? So unfair it's ridiculous. 4) The reporters need to figure out a way to not ask the same questions over and over and over and over again.

Then don't watch. :lol2: It's clear you hate Cal, so instead of watching and waiting to come up with your next thread bashing any and everything he does, why don't you just watch something else? 3) You're right, he just rolls the ball out there. :lol2:

It's also a fact that it's the way he has built his system. it's like a coach who builds his team around guards and small forwards and doesn't have a post presence, then is continually complaining, or using the excuse, or just in general keep saying the team can't rebound or block shots or score in the post because they have no big men. Ok...you built the team that way. If they had to play freshman through attrition...injuries, defections, etc., that's one thing. This is a completely different situation though.

Wow, who'd a thunk?
