You're wrong, but that's ok, I've become accustomed to it. When Cabrerra starts to be marked down in the 2 hole every day, please let us know. All of the big league managers have their best hitters in the 3 hole, you know why? Because that's the best productive slot for them to hit. Votto is not a prototypical 3 hole. He doesn't drive in runs. He has a high OBP. He takes a ton of pitches. He's not an egomaniac who won't sacrifice his AB for the good of the team. He's not a classic 3 hole guy.

If your best hitter is #2 and your fastest (most likely) guy is #1, the 2 hole guy OBP will be high. Why give the 2 hole guy good pitches to hit when you have an open base and can put the DP into affect? But what do I know? Apparently, my Fundamental Theorem's of Doubleday book is outdated. The problem with the math is that it can't account for these changes in the equation.
