5-3 Reds will get the win today.

Meso goes deep. Joey has another multiple hit day. Billy gets SB #1.

Phillips and Votto do what they do best. Neither puts the ball in play and the Reds don't score.

Taking a strike with 2 strikes. Is that a good thing or not?

Asking for a friend.

This team is pathetic at fundamentals.

All you have to do is put the ball in play. They're both too inept to do that.

Instead of us being worried about stealing first, maybe we should be asking if he can steal home. I know that is twice or three times Billy has been on third with less than two outs and he is yet to score a run this year.

Take it easy on Votto now. He shouldn't have to swing at pitches in the strike zone he doesn't like. His OBP will be where it usually is at the end of the year, and that's all that really matters. :sssh::popcorn:

In Votto's defense, according to MLB's gamecast, it wasn't close to the strike zone.

Also, I think they said that was his 4th AB with a RISP. Not a large sample size.

We know power numbers are going to be down.

And for the record, this is exactly why taking fastballs for strikes is a flawed logic. Why give the umpire the opportunity to make a bad call to end an AB? Why get to two strikes and have to react instead of giving yourself a chance to guess right earlier in the count.

I'm not big on bashing his approach with less than two strikes but I'm starting to get there if he's going to continue to take good pitches only to K later in the AB because he's fooled.
