Not to hijack (we can start another thread if this goes sideways) but those ARE entitlements...we paid into them and are entitled to get our benefits back.

 

Welfare and food stamps aren't entitlements, no one paid into those...they are just government charity more or less.

 

I understand and won't hijack. It is the labeling and word I disagree with.

In this day and age, it's not too far wrong to call almost any national political race a witch hunt. That's not what guru is after, though...I don't think.

Used to be that the center block of Market Street was THE PLACE for old townies to hang out and chat. I guess some weren't enamored of the influx of Asian-owned businesses coming into the county. An Asian gentleman stopped to ask directions of the locals one day and was told, "Find it yourself. You found Pearl Harbor."

 

Now I'm no expert, but it is my opinion that the gentleman asking directions did NOT indeed find Pearl Harbor. At least, not in December of 1941.

I think his name was Richard Jewel, but that could be way off.

I'll throw out there the American girl who was charged with murdering her roommate in Italy several years ago. Can't remember her name but it was big news.

 

Admittedly, I don't know all the details of this case very well, I really didn't follow it closely at all. So maybe you guys can tell me she pulled an OJ and got away with it, but from the little I know about the case it seemed to me:

 

Police decided right away it was her, and that was that.

Prosecutors/Italian authorities kind of made things up as they went along and kind of changed the rules of in mid-case to help their cause.

The whole country kind of decided she was guilty before ever knowing the evidence, and then just went about pinning it on her, regardless.

 

Kind of the definition of a witch hunt if you ask me. Granted it didn't take place in America, but it did involve an American.
