Here is another definition of witch hunt: an intensive effort to discover and expose disloyalty, subversion, dishonesty, or the like, usually based on slight, doubtful, or irrelevant evidence. Hmmm ... Kind of like how anybody who questioned the necessity of the Iraq war early on was branded by the Rove machine as "un-American" as a means to get their way.
