I have never been heartbroken, but i know what it feels like to hurt. i don't let people in close enough for my heart to break, best thing when you're hurting or heartbroken is to bee around people. You may not want to but it helps oh so much.

I had no intentions of letting her that close. I felt she was genuine and let myself open up to her. Big mistake.

Oh I did.

Then try to leave it at that and move on to the next round. Next time though, hold back major feelings for 6 months then show some cards. Kinda like UK bball this year, they started caring 3 weeks ago.

I'm better today. Last night was the end and I won't look back. I thank God for unanswered prayers.

I'm no relationship counselor but shutting people out isn't the answer to me... You never know what you could be missing out on.

Live life. Love will show it's face at the right time...

I agree with that 100%. on the otherhand we all have our struggles. I focus on living my life right now, progressing in my career, and keeping good company. I'll worry about love when I finish my Masters. As for now, I do show love... for a small portion of time. Stick in there wire, you have to wake up and make the best of every day possible.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Wireman. Unfortunately, it happens to the best of us. Keep your head up and push forward.

I've definitely been there. I had a glorified friendship with a girl for over two years. We talked literally all day, every day. Whoever woke up first texted the other, and we didn't stop until we fell asleep. Every day, for two years. 30,000 text messages a month. We went places and did things, I'd go to her house and hang out with her and her parents. She'd come to my place and we'd hang out. I couldn't help but smile when I was with her or thinking about her.

We did this for quite a long time. In the summer of 2010, she went on vacation and when she came back, she wanted me to come stay with her at her house. She lived out in Oldham County, her parents weren't going to be back until the next day, and she didn't want to stay out there alone. Hey, works for me. :lol2: Keep in mind, we had never been intimate in the year and a half up to this point, hadn't even kissed. So we are lounging around watching movies and stuff, and long story short, we ended up kissing for the first time that night. Stayed up all night, all that good stuff. It was completely unexpected, as I knew she wasn't "like that," and it was never about that with her anyway, because of how I felt about her.

At this point, we were dating, without the title. I was emotionally invested in her (I had been for months), and things were going great. All of a sudden, out of the blue, she decided we needed to back off and blah blah blah blah. We went from talking all the time and seeing each other 3-4 times a week to absolutely nothing. I was crushed. Literally had never been so upset over a girl in my life, and I was 23 at this point. Didn't eat for like three days because I was that bothered by it. She came back around a couple months later, but nothing was the same. We never got that spark back that we had. Just like MJ said, I never got a real answer why, and I have talked to her maybe twice in the past year. I didn't think/know I loved her until my mom actually said it to me. I was describing to her everything that was going on and she said "You love that girl," and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

I'd like to say us not continuing our relationship was for the better, but I just can't. There were no negatives that I saw, but apparently she did. I've never been the type to press a situation like that, so I let it be, as much as it sucked. Still bothers me today to talk about it.

This. Happened to me with a few added variations about 7 months ago. It sucks.

Deuce, almost the exact same thing here. Now that I'm on the outside looking in, there were some red flags I should have noticed but I think I just truly let myself go all in and was all about her. We talked all day every day for 5 months. I spent the night with her Friday night, got up the next morning and got intimate, left with I love you and I love you too, she told me she'd talk to me as soon as she got off work...

That evening I never heard from her after work. After an hour and a half I messaged her to see what was going on. Never heard back. Messaged her later that night, nothing. Finally at 11:30 I plainly asked her to tell me what was going on. She replied and said "sorry but I had to distance myself from you." Just like that. After 5 months of complete love and her talking about marriage and having babies in the future. I was hurt at first, then angry, then hurt. Talked to her last night for the last time and she said she has moved on. So, I'm done with her. I'll never look back.

And this is always what happened in my situation. Red flags I over looked. Talk of the future and then the quick axe.

One very important thing to remember is that the issue usually isn't because of the one who got their heart broken, but the breaker….it's important because if you try to figure out why or what you did wrong, you will go crazy. The pain comes from your commitment to that person and the violation of your absolute trust by the other person.

Chin up, find something to laugh about every day and never stop believing that it's ok to love...

I've run into a few of those who have "sent me on my way", and I will tell you time has not been a friend to them. Hope this helps.

Time won't be a friend to this one either. I honestly cared so much about her that I truly feel bad for her and that's not a humblebrag at all.

Happened twice. Never, ever again. I'm coooollllld hearted about relationships now. Well...actually I'm anti-relationship now...but that's a topic for another psychological thread.

That's how I started out...25 years later....still focusing on my career and my life :D

Oh I'm very much a mean person too when I get crapped on. It takes a lot to make me "break bad" but once you get there, payback is coming.

Luckily, I've been able to channel my anger to the gym this week.

Trust me when I say...the best revenge is moving on, being successful and happy without that person. I mean that. Hold back on petty revenge. I can honestly say that my ex's that broke my heart are really, really regretful that I'm not around. And one has to witness my successes quite often because he's my kids' father. :D

The quote is something like "They don't miss you when you're gone, they miss you when you move on." It's so hard at first but day by day the healing happens;hang in there, sorry you are going through it.

I've turned all my aggression to the gym. I've had the best workouts I've had in 10 years this week. I don't want to have that "I'm gonna show her" attitude but life does have it's little bonuses.
