Would Cooper take the job if offered? The last time a former Lincoln player had the job was Robbie Lucas and he only lasted two years before returning to Somerset and eventually taking that program to state. Sometimes it's tougher to coach in your hometown.

Why would Lincoln not just call Robbie Lucas and ask what it would take to bring him back?

Well if they opened up the applications again, they are not happy with what they interviewed. Im sure they will look for a better choice.

I was asked if I would support Lincoln alum Chris Cooper for head coach. I will support whoever is hired. I did reach out to Chris and asked him if he had applied. He did not. He is about to become a father for the second time and all of his efforts are going into that endeavor. He would certainly be a good head coach and is a faithful supporter of Lincoln football.

Good to hear. And if Lincoln is opening it back up because they were unsatisfied with who they interviewed, then I don't blame them one bit. This shouldn't be a temporary fix. The goal should be to hire the best possible coach. If it takes a little longer and combing through a few more applicants, then do it.

I think Cooper played at Lincoln on the '89 team, and later coached there as an assistant for a couple of years. Has he ever coached since at any other schools? What on his resume would make him a good head coach?
