Travis staying at AD?

What is the problem? Good School, Good Tradition, Good Players, They have also had great coaches? Is it the Administration?

Good points, great questions. Saying that a school wants a great coach and a program, and ACTUALLY doing something to see that it happens are two different things.

Late in the year. Not many current head coaches with good set ups (be it from the quality of their team, pay, teaching positions..all or a mix of the three) usually leave their current gigs this time of year.

 

I've heard they are looking for experience and proven; well, that's all good and well. Like ckyfootball said, wanting that and doing what it takes to get that are totally different things.

 

I hear the set up at Lincoln has gotten much better, especially financially & that Settles had a couple ISS periods (something all schools have, but it doesn't cause an issue or uproar unless it's a coach, in particular, the football coach) and a weightlfiting class.

 

Guys in the coaching business that remember the Lincoln glory days of the 80's to late 90's with Snooky, Larry Phillips and Jaggers (Estes and French obvioulsy did great jobs, too) are probably 1) close to retiring with their current positions or 2) have some sort of connection to the area/just really keep up with KY HS Football.

 

The biggest question I've been hearing is, 'Does Travis Leffew (who is an assistant as we all know by now and the newly hired AD) not want it or does Lincoln not want him (might have something to do with not being allowed to be a HC if you are the AD, which doesn't make sense, b/c Jackson was as the basketball coach)?'

It was nothing against either Bobby or Travis but it was about going outside for a new hire. As time goes on, it is more likely that one of them will be the next head coach. I think either one will do a great job.

Seems to me that either will do a GREAT job!! Hope Lincoln gets who they need for the long haul.

For what it's worth, there has been another Facebook page called "Bring Coach Jaggers Back to Lincoln County", started by none other than 1993 Mr. Football, Jeremy Simpson.

 

I do know the following:

 

1) Would Jaggers listen/interested? Yes.

 

2) Why hasn't it happened yet? One of the now admins (who was a teacher/coach then) and Jaggers both exchanged some choice words some 17-18 years ago when Jaggers and his son left for Danville. Both men, a lot younger and full of more 'gung ho' than they both are now. And, that's all it was. Nothing ever escalated past that.

 

3) Simpson and other former players of Jaggers have said (on the page at least) that they are or have already made contact with members of the administration.

It's a non-starter or we'd be pushing it. Marty is a great solution but we've been told "it's not gonna happen."

 

It would certainly be fun and entertaining and Marty would win some games that he shouldn't while winning all that he should.

I've heard from two people in the know, and one of them is about as first hand as it gets that the Super is even on board with Jaggers.

 

Oh well, time for Jaggers to stick with that hard pressed life as the AD at his Alma Mater in Trigg County surrounded by the best hunting & fishing grounds in the state,a long with some of the best golf courses on top of it.

It seems to me that they have had some big names with a lot interest. Usually when it is like this then they do not want to travel down the same road they have been. If they do not hire a WINNER this time then it is their own fault. What is interesting is that Travis Leffew vary qualified does not appear to be interested, and according to what the former coach said in his resignation is that they are in much better shape than when he took the position. Seems like to me that French did pretty well there, as Phillips, Jaggers, but the last four years without a winning season is playing on the minds of those making decisions. I wish them the best.

When will there be an announcement on the job? School is getting close to being out. I would think they would decide before then.
