His first MLB game and it was vs a Cy Young pitcher. Let's relax.

Two questions, 1. Does anyone know if Hamilton, in his life, has ever come close to hitting a breaking pitch ? 2. Does anyone have anything close to a logical reason why a. runners on 1st/3rd, 0 outs - b. Ball hit to 1st base side, 1st baseman coming in with momentum already towards plate/3rd base - c. Why a runner on 3rd would break that far towards home when he was looking at the 1st baseman with the ball coming towards him ?

As for question #2, I don't see how anyone can defend that. No outs, runners on 1st / 3rd there is absolutely no reason to break all out for home on contact.

Just a couple of opinions - I think that the Reds need to win at least 3 of the 6 early games vs. St. Louis. With so many players on DL starting the season I would think that if the Reds stay close to or at .500 for April that they are in good shape.

I did not read all of the previous post so if this or my earlier post is repetitive is wasn't meant to be.

Run on contact is bad baserunning. I don't know why ANYONE older than Randy Parker would run automatically on contact.

 

Couple that with 0 outs and it's just plain stupid.

The Reds haven't been known for their base running brilliance over the years.

Are they doing that LOB cummulatively? That is how it looks. If you only have 3 hits, how can you leave 20 runners on base? If Votto bats with bases loaded and makes an out, then Bruce bats with bases loaded and makes an out, is that 6 runners LOB? I don't see it that way.

Only for the purpose of this box score I believe. Either way, it's a telling tale. I like it this way frankly. If you and I are hitting 3rd and 4th and we both leave the sacks full, then hell yes we both suck and left a total of 6 runners on base. But I agree with the stat, the box score and a cumulative deal I guess. Tells a bit more of a tale at the end though don't you think?

I can see advantages to both views, but I think for season totals it would be better not to use the cumulative. JMO.

Absolutely, and they don't. I'm simply saying this box gives you a good idea of who failed and at what rate.

I see that Todd Frazier has continued his history of swinging at balls WAY outside the strike zone and taking pitches for called thirds down the middle. Gotta find an upgrade at that spot quickly.
