Stapleton would be a great hire at any point. Guy knows his stuff. Young guy with lots of energy.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if that position isn't open in the high school wouldn't he be in the same boat as Hinson in having to have a position created for him, thus causing Stapleton to take a big pay cut in not being a teacher in order to Coach?

So when hiring a coach you have to also hire for the appropriate teaching position that fits said coach or the incoming coach has no alternative but to be a bus driver,janitor, librarian or cook and not get an individual coaching check but just a check for that particular job and coach for free? Is that high school basketball coaching in a nutshell? Please fill me in on the alternatives or if I'm even close to being right

100 % not true. He was only offered the Head basketball job. He was asked if going back to school was a option. Coach Hinson does have a bachelors degree and he told them he could not afford anymore tuition cost. From what I hear if BC wanted him bad enough they would make it happen. At this point I don't believe anyone wants the job. They have offered to 3 people and wanted all 3 to work outside the district.

I am no where near an expert in the field but from what I can gather is anyone can coach as long as they have an affiliation with a school system. It does not have to be the school system they coach at eithier. Therefore Hinson could have took the job and stayed at his current position at Augusta. But we all know what a conflict of interest that would be. There are some things you just can't logically do that being one of them. Somewhat of the same situation with Stapleton working at Mason Co and coaching at Bracken. I just feel that all parties involved would rather coach and teach/work at the same school.

That's a great question. I would presume that if you work/coach in the same system then it would be same check. If it's the other way it would be seperate checks.

It may be included on the same check but it is an extra stipend. How much that coaching stipend is varies by sport and by school district.

Some districts add the stipend to the check, assuming the coach is an employee of the district (teacher, janitor, etc...). Others pay in a lump sum at season's end. Still others pay the stipend in two installments, typically part one in mid-November, the other in mid-March.
