March 11, 201412 yr What are they going to do with a plane? Grand Theft Air? You're not landing it at an airport without anyone noticing. If they pulled that off, greatest theft ever.... It blew up or crashed into the ocean. Only two feasible scenarios. Still thinking that??

Transponders and other tracking equipment may have been intentionally turned off and the plane was 100's of miles from where it was expected to have been. I still think the two missing passport guys from Iran are involved This plane could reach almost anywhere in the Eastern Hemisphere. All the way to Europe. Shutting down every communication path on the plane would not be easy. But over ocean it would be out of land-based radar range.

March 11, 201412 yr How is it refueling? I could reach London, UK without refueling. The range of the 777s is over 7,000 miles - on a single fill-up. So it could have flown from London, UK to anywhere in Africa, to Australia, to Hawaii, etc. It could not reach the west cost of the US though - so take Los Angles off the search area. See this link for the distance from Kuala-Lumpur to London, then imagine using it as the radius of where it could have flown without refueling: Distance London ? Kuala Lumpur - Distance between London and Kuala Lumpur If it was not destroyed and it was able to turn off all its tracking and they took every passengers cell phone, etc. etc....that would be your 'search' area.

March 11, 201412 yr Author Seeing how there has been no request from potential hijackers or sighting of the plane anywhere here is my best guess as to what has happened. Plane took off as normal headed to China, someone some how commandeered the plane and the transponders were turned off (just like on 9/11) and the plane changed direction where it was last seen on radar approaching the Malacca Strait. At some point after that the passengers or crew attempted to wrest control of the plane back and it either crashed in the ocean (a long way away from where they are looking) or in the jungle mountains of Gunung Leuser National Park in Indonesia where it was headed on it's last known trajectory. It is hard to imagine a scenario where this plane is just sitting on a tarmac somewhere being held hostage. (Side note: There have been over 20 terrorist attacks in Indonesia Since 9/11 with most focused on western and US nationals. To say Indonesia is a Hot Bed of Al Qaeda activity is an understatement andit is just a short boat ride from Malaysia)
March 11, 201412 yr Author So this plane can evade all radar at this point if it's in the air? No, but there isn't as much Radar Coverage as you'd think either. Air Traffic Controllers follow planes based on transponders on the plane that give them location, altitude, heading and speed. If those are turned off it is much hard to track the planes without Military Radar being involved. There is Radar near the airports but just out over the ocean not so much. On 9/11 the transponders were turned off on at least one of the planes and that's why even though they knew it was hijacked they couldn't find it in time to deal with it.

Wouldn't need too if it was fully loaded with fuel. I believe I heard a report that said it had 7 hours of fuel which would allow it to go about 3500 miles.
March 11, 201412 yr Wouldn't need too if it was fully loaded with fuel. My point is even with a hijacking I just don't believe it's been in the air in days. If it touched ground or sea at all it's down permanently in my opinion.
